    Out of patience.

SBC isn't an option for D2, especially later ones. The rover package is too integrated. Massive PITA that would take a fully equipped shop and massive custom fabrication. You'd more or less be transplanting the entire drivetrain and making custom axels. Not to mention costing far more than a...

How much does a TD5, ECU, & transmission cost?(edit: TD5 kit is £12,000+ or $15,000+( big lolno on that one.)) Transfercase should be geared the same? A new 4.6 long block flanged & shipped is $6500 USD. I'm curious as to what other major issues and/or costs are associated with the later D2s...

    Out of patience.

The driver side rear window mechanism failed shortly after making this thread as well. I considered a 2004 Disco. I believe I can pick up one for less than $1,000 with a failed engine block and have it running again for under $10,000. However, that leaves the question "what else?!" Another...

    Top Hat 4.6s?

Are these blocks redeemable in any way? 2004 Discos with blown engines can be had ridiculously cheap these days. (Edit: Price for engine is actually over £5000 shipped.) http://turner-engineering.co.uk/html/V8enginesreman.html Anyone have experience with these engines?

    Out of patience.

I've owned my 98 D1 for over six years now. It's provided service as a DD for many of those years even if it's downtime has accumulated upwards of 12 months. The frame is solid and clean compared to most Discos I've seen, but the body is rotting. Most seriously on the firewall where the hood...

    4.0 Mass Air Flow Sensor

Disco sub forum absolutely useless. Anyways, p1176 & p1179 Hot start issues Uneven idle New MAF Sensor installed. With new MAF Sensor massive throttle lag and/or engine cut out when throttle pressed from idle. POS part or does ECU need to calibrate to new sensor?

    Yes, its a 4.0.

    Disco 1 MAF Issues

98 Disco. p1176 & p1179 Hard shifts to gear 3 as well which supposedly has something to do with this. Edit: forgot hot start issues I had bought a new MAF sensor a couple years ago when having a different issue. The issue turned out to be something else and I shelved the new MAF. Now I...

[4.0] Bad sensor or bad ECU?!

Update. Throttle body wasn't tight enough causing vacuum leak. Someone shoot me.

[4.0] Bad sensor or bad ECU?!

Replaced some decrepit looking main fuses under the hood for noticeable improvement. Still lags under throttle and runs a tad lean. Leads me to believe more wiring issues.

[4.0] Bad sensor or bad ECU?!

Not sure, I mostly get told to go away if I bring a landy to a shop around here. Most I've put on there was a code reader for the check engine light which gave me the oh-so-valuable "misfire causing excessive emissions."

[4.0] Bad sensor or bad ECU?!

Runs too lean at idle and dies. It revs fine and has no adverse sounds. Unplug Mass Airflow Sensor for 10 seconds and replug fixes issue entirely. Replaced the sensor for the low, low price of $200USD to be met with the same issue. Unplug to make the computer go into fail safe mode and it...

Weld in replacement panels for area under skylight

I guess my option now is to look for someone parting out a disco that will let me cut on it. That or fiberglass the thing and get rid of it.

Weld in replacement panels for area under skylight

On the stamped roof piece above the rear quarter, above the gutter. The small windows that are placed either side. The rust is below the windows where the rubber to hold the window in seats.' Hell, I'd take a whole stamped roof piece if I could find it

Weld in replacement panels for area under skylight

Does anyone know of a place that makes them? I find all these other replacement panels but none for the area that seems to rust out on every single Disco around here. WHY DOES NO ONE MAKE A PANEL FOR THIS AREA?! Not one person within 100 miles of me has the proper tools to recreate the break in...

    4.0 troubleshoot after head job

Well, I just finished piecing together the 4.0 in my disco after replacing the head gaskets. To my surprise the old whore fired right up after bleeding the fuel lines. Though, she's far from without issue and I was hoping to get some advice to expedite my troubleshooting. #1: Its running rough...

    Engine Swap?

That link eventually led me to what I was looking for. Really depends on how much more trouble the 4.0 gives me and how much it is to source a 350, 4L80E, and a computer for it. I actually have all of that in the truck I bought when the disco crapped, I just don't want to tear apart my only...

    Engine Swap?

I had a head/headgasket go on my 4.0 disco. After have nothing but hell with the ****ty head bolts rolling off round I am now left with pulling the engine and drilling them out. At this point in time I'm not too keen on putting that PoS engine back in the truck. I'm also not too keen on the...

    Disco Misbehaving.

Got a Disco 1, v8, 110k miles, and which I assume has a cracked head. Runs fine, slightly rougher idle, and persistent water vapor in exhaust. No check engine lights. Is there any luck it is just the head gasket and I won't have to have heads machined/replaced? I can't check and see if it is...
