Looks like I'll be back to japanese after this lot. I've got a jap bike and it has beaten the freelander hands down in terms of reliability and faults. Are the defenders any better? My lad is doing his test in 2 weeks and is desperate for one!

Yes Guy Salmon are crap. But that doesn't explain the build quality of a freelander that cost 30k and then starts to fall apart after 3 years and 70k miles!
