    Litch its a full circular piece with the fan well inside it and doesnt move forward enough to lift it past the fan. May be able to move it back enough to get the fan off first but even then doesnt look like it will clear the pulleys

    Thanks Lynall the pic helps a lot will try that first before having to resort to something more complex like Litch's idea. Anybody got any hints on how best to get the rad cowl out without dismantling the front end, barring a better idea from someone was thinking of just cutting it out?

    since the new glow plugs went in has made some difference but not totally solved it, had a sniff of the exhaust its definatly fuel. had a nosey through old posts will try some of the things mentioned ie cleaning bresther pipes etc. hopefully wil at least get it to the point of not being so noticable

    wickford I didnt touch the relay only the connections to the switch which I had marked up to make sure i put them back in the right place. Buster I did check the bulbs the pins on the bulb are staggered so you can only put them in one way

    Thanks for all the help, turned out that the last owner when he renewed the side and tail lights did'nt bother to use proper connectors instead just twisted the wires together :crazy: so one of them was causeing a short so problem solved:D
