    Series III Clutch and doors

Yeah, that's getting scribbled down somewhere in the Haynes manual that's for darn sure... :D

You're right Stig, I checked the old one and it had an adaptor on it. Thanks man, that was a big help.

    Series III Clutch and doors

Sorry to drag this old thread up again, but I've just got to the point of finishing off fitting the new master cylinder and it looks an awful lot like the outlet pipe to the slave cylinder won't actually fit in the new master cylinder. Like, it seems 3mm or so too fat. Ummmm.... help?

    K&N air filter

You know, I'm not really sure what to do. I smacked it on like this (see photo) as it was the only way I could see it going on, but there is indeed now a pipe just to the left of the carb / air filter, that was previously taking air somewhere from the pipe I removed, that is now just pointing...

    K&N air filter

Ah! Of course. I need an emoticon for slapping my forehead here... I've read some bad things about them actually. Slightly better power and mpg (maybe) but poor in dusty conditions, I think the lack of sufficient filtering can be pretty bad for the engine. I'm using it temporarily till I can...

    K&N air filter

Just a quick easy question this time. Fitted on of these, purely because the original one was missing when I bought the Series III so I went for the cheap, simple option. But it seems too simple. Is this fitted right? I just stuck it on the end of the air intake pipe. Also, should I fix it...

    Series III Clutch and doors

Ah! Gotcha. I was looking at it thinking "how the hell do you get to some of those bolts?" but that makes a lot of sense. Thanks for that.

    Series III Clutch and doors

Excuse my ignorance but when you say pedal box do you literally just mean the metal plate in the cab directly behind the pedals? Is this to allow easier access to the underside of the engine? Thanks everyone for your help so far

    Series III Clutch and doors

Thanks ZD, I'll keep an eye on that. It was in fact only my 3rd journey when the clutch suddenly lost pressure. It came back after a breif rest, which has made a number of people tell me it's most likely worn seals in the master cylinder. Soon find out I guess...

    Series III Clutch and doors

Sweet. I bought this Landy with the intention of fiddling with it myself, so I guess I should put my mouth where my money isn't and get on with it... :D

    Series III Clutch and doors

I recently bought a 1983 88 inch Series III that was pretty tatty but seemed fairly sound overall. A few days after buying it the clutch went Kapoot and I have since been told that the master cylinder seals, which has been backed up by everything I have read. How easy are these things to...

    Defender for under £1000?

Series 3 eh? I'll look into that. Thanks.

    Defender for under £1000?

Thanks for the replies guys, that's pretty much confirmed what I feared. Better get myself a car to run about in and start saving the pennies...

    Defender for under £1000?

Hey folks, I've scoured these forums a fair bit, and picked up a great deal of useful info., and it's made me doubt that I can get a usable Defender (or any Land Rover for that matter) for around £1000. I'm basically looking for something that would be usable day in day out and be fairly...
