    Freelander 1 Notchy Gears

Hi FL1, TD4, 170 miles. I've noticed my gear changes (all gears) have started to become quite hard, needs an extra shove to engage, could this be clutch related? I always thought a worn clutch slipped rather than this issue. Thanks

Freelander 1 Oil getting past the intake temp sensor

It’s leaking past the air temp sensor which is right on the top of the engine between the 2 boost hoses, it’s not a hole in the pipe.

Freelander 1 Alisport Intercooler - Should I do another remap??

Hi Manual 2004 TD4. A while ago I had a driveway remap done, the type where a bloke pulls up in his van, plugs in his gadget and remaps the car, it runs nicely and a big difference. I've since fitted an Alisport intercooler, would it be worth having a rolling road remap done to make the best of...

Freelander 1 Oil getting past the intake temp sensor

Hi Sorry I should have said that it's TD4. It runs fine, no errors just some oil leaking out.

Freelander 1 Oil getting past the intake temp sensor

Hi I've noticed a lot of oil around and underneath the air intake temp sensor, I assume this is coming from inside the boost pipe and somehow leaking out, I've checked the thread and washer and that's all dry so it must be getting betwen the plastic sensor and the metal body. Is this a common...

Freelander 1 Lumpy and doesn't want to rev when cold

so what's the issue, it's fine when it's warm? It will rev past 2k but I have to really hit the throttle and why is it so lumpy at 2k?

Freelander 1 Lumpy and doesn't want to rev when cold

Hi 2004 TD4. Now I've replaced one of glow plugs it starts really nicely (all 4 are ok), but I've still got a the problem that I've had for years is, for the first minute or so it just doesn't want to rev, at 2k it's really lumpy, if I really hit the throttle it will pickup and once driven for a...

Freelander 1 Glow Plugs test results and replacement

Done, it came straight out. I let the engine idle for 10 mins before getting started. Slightly concerned about the amount of blue smoke that came out when I went for a test drive, it stopped after a few miles so need to let it cool down and go out again, can't imagine why that's started, Thanks...

Freelander 1 Glow Plugs test results and replacement

I would like to know which ones are good so I don't risk breaking them when trying to get them out, I'd like to replace the faulty ones first.

Freelander 1 Glow Plugs test results and replacement

thanks. My other questions, is how likely is it that they will come out without snapping? I did spray WD40 on them all whilst I had it apart.

Freelander 1 Glow Plugs test results and replacement

Hi My TD4 always starts fine in low temps but is very lumpy and sluggish for the first few minutes and kicks out some smoke if I rev it hard. Today I tested the glow plugs with my multimeter, I'm not great at understand resistance and what I should be getting. With my meter set on resistance and...

    Freelander 1 Whistle on acceleration

Hi My 2004 TD4 manual has developed a whistle/whoosh noise on acceleration and also when I take my foot off the gas, I’ve check all the hoses (apart from the one out of the turbo) but no leaks or splits. It runs fine, no smoke or ECU light. Seems to be getting worse, by that I mean it seems to...

    Freelander 1 Vacuum Chamber

Hi Does anyone know what is inside of the FL1 TD4 Vaccum chamber, is it just a single large space? I ask becuase a few people have suggetsed the pipes can be on the wrong way around (front/back), if it is just a single space then it won't make any difference. From what I can see the front pipe...

Freelander 1 Low on power - turbo vacuum pipes

Internal dia, external doesn’t matter. Silicone pipe has the required properties for this job.
