Series 2 Any advice on selling Series 2 109?

Re reserve, considered that, trouble is if it doesn't sell, I'll have paid to get it taken up there, have to pay to bring it back again and then I'll be in the same situation I'm in now but with a lighter wallet. Think I'll just take the chance.

Series 2 Any advice on selling Series 2 109?

This is the problem, knowing what to offer it at £2K or £10K? Unlike modern production cars, Autotrader doesn't help much! Think auction is a good idea, if it goes for £2K then so be it, much less than that and I'll be a bit miffed as I have to pay to get it taken up there and the auctioneers...

Series 2 Any advice on selling Series 2 109?

Thanks Remora 107. I've been in touch with Brightwells and they've got back to me suggesting an average L/R with my spec would go for 5K and a good one 10K and so it will be off to their next classic car sale in early November. Will be sad to see it go, but better than having it rot at the top...

Series 2 Any advice on selling Series 2 109?

Thanks for ideas. Good idea from Remora107 on 'my other' thread suggesting Brightwells classic car auction. Quite like that plan as I have no idea what to ask for it, and it will avoid the tyre kickers and people bidding then not collecting as I've experienced selling cars on ebay!

Series 2 Any advice on selling Series 2 109?

Yes, November 1958. I live South of Monmouth - but I know Brightwells, that's a good suggestion, thanks. Seems they have classic auction coming up in December and have contacts on their website for vehicle collection - so I'll look into that.

Series 2 Any advice on selling Series 2 109?

Wouldn't really know what to compare it with - I suppose the fairest description would be 'original+lots of patches'. There are probably a few bad areas again - fortunately the steel is thick and the sections generous, partly why I like Landrovers. I remember when I welded the new rear...

Series 2 Any advice on selling Series 2 109?

Think 5 bhp is generous. Certainly low ratio box needed for going up steep hills. Resisted the idea of putting a tdi or petrol engine in it though, as I like the idea of it being original. I put a new rear cross member and other bits and pieces on it but is generally fairly original - certainly...

Series 2 Any advice on selling Series 2 109?

Getting too old to work on it, so decided to sell my 109 2.0 diesel. Don't really want it to go to a breaker. Can't advertise it on here as not enough threads. Does anyone have any suggestions, where I can advertise it please. Bad experience on ebay selling previous cars!

    diesel timing iffy

After cleaning gunge out of the whole fuel system including having the injector pump reconned my 2.0 diesel engine has spluttered back into life. It's reluctant to rev though, is making lots of white smoke and is very lumpy (nothing new there you might say) - so whilst I set it up as per the...

series 2 (original 2.0 rover diesel engine) injector pump - no fuel

Yes I think it must be a blockage in the pump. Before I go to the hassle and expense of taking it off and having it reconditioned again (I had it done about 5 years ago) I wonder if I could pump some sort of cleaner into the pump - by allowing the diesel that's already in there to bleed out of...

series 2 (original 2.0 rover diesel engine) injector pump - no fuel

OK thanks. I'll try reconnecting the injector pipes - I've waggled both the stop lever and throttle up and down many times, and also taken the bleed nipple out of the pump (and poked a bit of fuse wire in the hole) but sadly to no avail. It's the nipple on the squarish part of the injector pump...

series 2 (original 2.0 rover diesel engine) injector pump - no fuel

I have had big problems with diesel bug clogging up fuel lines, tank etc. I've cleaned eveything out, added biocide to the fuel and fitted a new filter. I've now got fuel to come through one of the bleed valves on the CAV injector pump. However, I can't get it come out of the second bleed valve...

    2.0 diesel air inlet hose

I need a new hose from air filter to manifold on my '58 2.o diesel 109. I'm guessing it's the same as the 2.5 diesel (p/n 90509730) but I don't really want the hassle of returning it if not. Does anyone know if it's the same please? Thanks

    2.0 litre diesel won't rev

Now I'm stuck. I've drained the tank cleaned it and refilled it, cleaned the fuel lines and the filter. Good flow from the filter to the injector pump when I operate the lever on the lift pump. Cleaned the nylon filter on the inlet to the injector pump. Bled the main bleed point on the...

    2.0 litre diesel won't rev

Thanks for replies, looks like that's what I'll have to do. Would be marooned at top of garden in stinging nettle patch beyond reach of air line etc! What's involved in checking out the lift pump? just making sure it moves diesel from the inlet to the outlet or is a pressure check involved?

    2.0 litre diesel won't rev

About a month ago - seemed fine then. I put some new diesel in at that point - not something I do very often as it doesn't do many miles, so my first suspicion is that I might have stirred up some grolly from the bottom of the tank which has blocked the filter. I would have thought though that...

    2.0 litre diesel won't rev

Started my 1957 series 2 2.0 diesel today. OK at tickover initially but would not rev, almost as if the linkage was broken (it's not - I moved it at the pump end). As I scratched my head the revs started to build up but still independent of the throttle. Got to about 1500rpm I suppose and I...

    Weather seals - advice please

Thanks for replies/advice - I think Bobsticles pragmatic approach sounds good to me - the Woolies site looks great, I was unaware of them. Prices look OK too.

    Weather seals - advice please

I'm putting my 1958 109" series 2 back together, and want to make it as watertight as possible. I'm more interested in having it 'up together' than concours, so not worried about original seals if there is a better way to go. I'm after all the body seals basically, so front doors side fixed...
