well a quick update, its been back to land rover and the head gasket is going now, the exhaust is blowing, this after nearly a grand spent last month when the cam belt snapped............. He has now dumped it and bought another car thanks for all the help anyway!

Also forgot to mention when the power loss happens he revved it up an there was nothing in it, it sounded like a manual choke car when the engine is warm and you pull the choke all the way out, almost as if its getting to much fuel or perhaps being starved off air!!!!!!!!!

Hi , im new here.Just got back in from towing father in law home, he has a 97/98 ish freelander 1.8 5 dr, driving along and all of a sudden the car loses all power and struggles to even move under it own steam...Leave it for a couple of hours and its ok again.First happened couple of weeks ago...
