Thanks, I ended up loosening the four bolts which hold the subframe up. Gave me enough room to wriggle it out in the end. Will pick up a new one from the main stealer tomorrow, hopefully it will go back in as easily! I've put up with that clunking noise for about 6 months now, if I'd known it...
