Thanks for all the help, It turned out to be the key reader. I got a new one + full lock and including housing and the wiper arm stalk for £35. A1 4x4 breakers, tile st. bury lancs. The guy took all the parts off for me. Tel 0161-7977050.

Took ignition switch off back of the big aly cast, turned big aly cast so the steering lock is not engaged,tried knocking screwdriver int key slot to turn, no joy. Put key into key slot and turned plastic ignition switch with srewdriver, dash lights illuminate but starter is idle...
