i took some pics and wondered if someone could tell me the colour because that what the ambulance was originally painted. someone told me its deep bronze green someone else told me it's olive drab????????

it's actually matt nato green. it's a 1967 landy and i'm right in thinking they weren't painted olive drab back then. i'm sure i will be corrected.

i went to Hi.Q today so they could have a look at my exhaust. they said it isn't blowing from the head but where the manifold meets the exhaust. i've got it booked in for friday to get it done. whilst i was there, i asked for a quote for a service. £120 that's much better than the £800+ i was...

go into google and type in EMLRA and it gives you the ex-military landrover association site, they are really helpful. to join, it's £17.50 a year and when you're a member, they can do a vehicle search for around a fiver. they write to deal barracks where all the records are kept.

no, there's no missing 0. it was sitting in nato reserve stock for over 30 years and was stored in a nice dry warehouse awaiting a war.

i tell you what i've done to my landy today! i've worked on the engine, i've sworn at it, i've kicked it and called it a few nasty names. tomorrow, i'll probably do the same but this time, i'll leave the matches and petrol indoors ;)

you've got to be kidding. as soon as i turned up, they came out of the office and workshop to look her over and the mechanics were even arguing over who was going to do the service. so it's a case of going to a motor factors and getting all the parts and doing it myself. bollocks to them.

i went to a local land rover dealer yesterday and asked how much it would cost to get my 1967 land rover ambulance a full service. i was quoted around £800 :eek: :eek: :eek: :mad: how can these people justify that?????? the parts alone wouldn't be anywhere near £200. i know labour charges...

the more i drive her, the more i love her. what a fantastic motor she is. i can see why people love their landys so much.

it was £1900 in the end. i'm really please with the price. 10 months MOT, tax exempt the interior is brilliant, when i viewed it last tuesday, i knew i had to buy it. the only mod i'm going to do is repaint it bronze green, the geezer is going to give me the paint, he was going to do it himself...
