Disco 1 200tdi injection pump not turning

Hi there, I'm currently building a 200tdi which came to me in about five boxes of bits with the block. The rebuild has gone smoothly so far but I've gone to fit the injector pump and planned to set the timing myself with a gauge, but I can't actually get the pump to turn over by hand (more than...

    Series 3 Fuel gauge rollercoaster

I've double checked the wiring behind the instrument cluster and everything seems to be fine - current is passing as expected and the connections look solid. If anyone else has any ideas about what might be causing it to be so wayward I'd value the insight before I just start replacing random...

    Series 3 Fuel gauge rollercoaster

Thanks for your reply - that's really interesting. If this one is being caused by a loose connection I can't quite find it, so I'll keep digging. I know that the gauge reads the variation in resistance from the sender, but it seems to be varying much too fast. I'll keep looking.

    Series 3 Fuel gauge rollercoaster

Hi All, I've got a 1981 Series 3 Diesel which has, until very recently, had a non-functioning fuel gauge. I finally got around to having a rummage the other day, pulled out the sender - and found it had seized up. Gave it a good clean and put it back, and now it's showing an (almost) full...

    Overdrive very stiff?

Hi there, Thanks for your response. The pivot point is one of these, (image) which I believe is like the original ones. You might be onto something about it seizing. Getting it off the linkage was a real pain, and even out of the car it doesn't want to spin at all. I have a brand new...

    Overdrive very stiff?

Hi there! I've got a 1981 Series 3 Diesel which I've been slowly restoring. It came fitted with a Fairey overdrive, but thus far I've not used it on test drives because the lever is incredibly stiff. This is the same whether driving or in the garage. I've made sure to follow the operating...

    Series 3 Original tyre sizes?

You are a gentleman and a scholar, thank you for this.

    Series 3 Original tyre sizes?

Hi there! I'm (slowly) restoring a series 3 109 which came into my possession with enormous aftermarket wheels, and even more ridiculous tyres. I intend to replace them. I've got some new replacement wheels which look similar to stock (though aren't, I don't think) from Britpart, but no one...

Series 3 Crankshaft Pulley suddenly seized?

Hiya all - Thanks for the help and useful advice. I was able to get movement when rocking it in gear, and the starter then turned it over first time. Of course, since then I've now developed some kind of weird new issue with the charge light not working but... hey ho - it is The Order Of Things.

Series 3 Crankshaft Pulley suddenly seized?

Thanks for the reply Dag, I really appreciate it. I don't currently have a large enough socket for the crank, but a breaker bar is on my shopping list anyway, so I'll sort this soon. Thank you again for your advice!

Series 3 Crankshaft Pulley suddenly seized?

Hiya, thanks for your reply! Yes that's exactly right. I am unable to move the crank pulley with the engine off, but I was able to spin it freely a couple of weeks ago. I'll see if I can get it started and will report back. Thanks for the welcome, I really appreciate it!

Series 3 Crankshaft Pulley suddenly seized?

Hi all! Not quite sure what's going on here so I'd appreciate input. Three weeks ago the water pump in my SIII 2.25 diesel started leaking water, and I ordered a replacement. I did not leave the engine sitting with the pump off, they were directly swapped a few weeks ago. While the rad and...
