Drinking Coolant / Head Gasket / Emissions

Here's to hoping! Yeah 2nd O2 sensor not there but the MOT uses the sniffer because they can't connect to the "OBD2" port being MEMS1.9 so if the holes are letting the in extra Oxygen the Lambda will read out but new pipe ordered anyway just incase they complain about that on the MOT.

Drinking Coolant / Head Gasket / Emissions

I THINK I FIXED IT! (Long post) I took a look today before it started throwing it down and found a couple of things; Firstly I took the distributor cap off to inspect for water ingress from greenlaning and found OIL inside the distributor cap, took the plastic seal off the rotor arm and it...

Drinking Coolant / Head Gasket / Emissions

Welp, guess I'm towing it down, it seems the misfire in the previous posts is causing the issue - I've attached a picture of the emissions test - checked all plugs and they not only look good but actually quite good no wetness or fouling, so really am lost and will let all all have a gander at it.

Freelander 1 Andyfreelandy's get together, North Devon, September 13th

I wonder if someone has a OWUT contraption they could bring - Really need to test mine but have absolutely no will to build a contraption to test it just to work out I need to spend more money 😬

Drinking Coolant / Head Gasket / Emissions

Well... Now my brakes are back to almost normal, I can return to this. I have booked an MOT for Thursday - to see if it'll pass emissions, but should it fail (it still has that odd misfire) I still have a few ideas, before I rebuild the motor. It could be some of the following so I am looking...

Booked the MOT for Thursday... fingers crossed it'll make it down there under its own power, if not I guess I'll be towing it

    Oil Sump Replacement 1.8K (Solved)

The threads had been completely stripped, when I tried to do an oil change, the drain plug would spin, and it was cheaper and quicker for me to replace the pan than buy tools to re-tap new threads and find a new bolt that would fit and work correctly 🤷‍♂️
  11. xDParis64

What have you done to your Freelander today

Replaced the Oil pan, O2 Sensor, inlet manifold gasket and a coolant flush. The inlet ports were very wet, especially the one closest to the coolant port (bottom of the image) so I am hoping that was why the car was losing coolant... Obviously not mixing with the oil though so that is good...

    Oil Sump Replacement 1.8K (Solved)

Got the old sump off, the only part I needed to remove other than the exhaust was the bracket that goes around the driveshaft and connects to the bottom of the sump to the IRD as it was in the way of one of the sump 10mm bolts, I am sure with a UJ socket bit you could get in there but the last...

    Oil Sump Replacement 1.8K (Solved)

Do you remember what it is you had to move out of the way? Other than the exhaust which I see as quite obvious

    Oil Sump Replacement 1.8K (Solved)

Yes it is a K series, I can see the support bracket in your image has been removed or wasnt there (goes around the drive shaft) but I can clearly see the IRD is still in which is good news! Thanks

    Oil Sump Replacement 1.8K (Solved)

Hey all! Another Thread :p I am looking to change the oil sump on the Freelander but last I looked the IRD and other brackets are in the way, if anyone has done it I would love some suggestions, I really don't want to have to take the IRD out again, I swear it's come out enough times...

Unable to bleed brakes (SOLVED) - Custom Brake Thread

Maybe? how could I tell? It's only attached to the brake booster via a pin and clip style connection, and the brake booster is bolted on. The hand brake used to do one click hence I think 3 may be too much, maybe the space could be the unused rotors with the unused pads and creating a bad feel...

Unable to bleed brakes (SOLVED) - Custom Brake Thread

I adjusted them to where I couldn't get the drum on at all, then 1 click back to fit them on, the hand brake goes up about 3 clicks so that tells me they need adjusting again, maybe the adjuster has gone bad on them?

Unable to bleed brakes (SOLVED) - Custom Brake Thread

It's perfectly possible and worth considering! For now though I just need an MOT it's been 4 months since I last drove it properly, gonna give it a quick shoot up the motorway before the MOT, I will be sure to let everyone know how that goes... Concerned for the emissions but that is another...

Unable to bleed brakes (SOLVED) - Custom Brake Thread

Even weirder that it applies the brakes a fair amount in that dead-space, but I think the MOT guy will be happy enough compared to last time  You can adjust the pushrod on the pedal to the master, I've adjusted it a bit, but it is technically "Over-Adjusted" by about 0.5mm - 0.75mm so it...
