    The Guessing Game

lol thanks everyone for your input. I agree that usually I cannot hear a thing in my series 3 but was only going about 10 miles an hour so definitely heard something clatter. I also found part of a broken u-bolt but checked all my axles and they’ve got 4 on each. Very strange. Hoping that...

Hmmmm given no one has instantly recognised the offending object I’ll have to go back to have another look to see if anything else roadside looks like it has come off the landy 😂. Definitely made a clatter as it fell off whatever it was 😁 Appreciate all your help as always

    The Guessing Game

Evening all Had a lovely day yesterday collecting our Christmas tree in my series 3 until I heard a clattering noise and something definitely falling off the vehicle 😱. Have been back to the road this evening and the only debris that looks like it could have come from Solihull’s finest is a...

wiper park switch: why does it connect to earth

Hi Sprie. Funnily enough I’ve just been sorting out my wipers this weekend. After changing the motor the washer kept sticking on so have just taken out the switch and cleaned it all out including the micro switch which is pushed by the plunger for washer function. I’m now back to full working...

I have found this forum very friendly and invaluable for help since buying my S3 in the spring this year. It’ll be like triggers broom when it’s finished but doesnt half put a smile...

    Series 3 Wiper Motor Removal

So I managed to separate the motor from the wheel drive cable…. Opened it all up and now realise why there was a terrible noise everyone I used the motor. Looks like one of the magnets had come away and has slowly been burning out the armature. Also a few of the insulating tabs (?) had broken...

    Series 3 Wiper Motor Removal

Thanks. Do you mean on the motor itself remove the back plate? Was trying to remove the wheelbox drive cable attached to the motor as per the green book. Perhaps will try the alternative. Only want to overhaul the motor 😕. Nothing is ever as easy as the green book suggests 😂

    Series 3 Wiper Motor Removal

Thanks Steve. Looking at Step 7 the motor should pull away with the motor cable attached? That’s the bit I’m getting stuck on

    Series 3 Wiper Motor Removal

Afternoon all. Just tried to follow the green book and cannot seem to get the wiper motor removed. I can only get the wheel box drive cable so far then will not pull out any further? I’ve removed the union nut but can only pull the drive cable out so far. Wipers have been removed. All ideas...

    Canvas Cover Question

Thanks for this. Yep that’s exactly how I’ve fitted it. Feels like when the rain is horizontal (as is normal among the Bristol Channel where I am!) it’ll continue to get through those eyelets. Might have to mock up a rubber patch and feed the rope through

    Canvas Cover Question

Hi all Me again! Recently fitted canvas cover which has been great but during recent hard rain noticed that water is spraying in to the rear from the eyelet of the rear flap either side all over my new rear seats. 🫣 A minor inconvenience but wonder if there should be a rubber grommet or...
