    Removing transmission

Hi everyone. Thanks for the advice and problem-solving with me. It turned out to be a stuck clutch plate. I was able to remove the bolts fixing the clutch cover to the flywheel. The transmission released. No issue with the pilot bushing. The clutch plate wouldn't release. I cut out the platen...

    Removing transmission

I positioned it so that It's floating on the studs. It's the shaft that is getting stuck. Likely issue is what @rangieman mentioned. Unfortunately I only have about an inch of space so can't fit even a small spanner.

    Removing transmission

This makes alot of sense. Maybe the best way is to use the space I have to un bolt the clutch housing by rotating the engine. Is this how you solved it?

    Removing transmission

I checked several times. It's not hitting anything, plenty of clearance and all bolts are removed. I think it's probably a mix of slight clutch misalignment and too tight pilot bearing. I recently installed a new clutch and pilot bearing and had a difficult time connecting the bellhousing back...

    Removing transmission

Yes transfer box is off. It must be binding on something. I recently installed a new pilot bushing which may be too tight. Maybe it's getting stuck there. Will try to pull it out with some ratchet straps for leverage.

    Removing transmission

Hi all, I am trying to drop the transmission on my range rover classic 300 tdi. I removed all bolts but have been struggling to separate the bellhousing and after more than 5 hours of trying everything from different heights and wiggling, pry bar etc I can't seem to get more than 1/2 inch of...

    300 TDI oil leak

The main seal was replaced but obviously leaking between engine block and flywheel housing. The logic in this thread is sound that its likely not the sump seal because there is no oil in the sump and I am very skeptical that the leak would magically fix itself. Since I already have the transfer...

    300 TDI oil leak

It's definitely oil. It's likely clear because the oil is new. There is no coolant in engine yet. It's a fresh rebuild. My hunch is rear main leaking from the bottom behind flywheel housing, so will replace it with one of the reinforced seals and tap 2 new holes...

    300 TDI oil leak

The rebuilder is suggesting to run it for a bit and it might resolve itself. Does this actually happen?

    300 TDI oil leak

Based on smell test, it doesn't smell like much - it's not diesel or brake fluid. The engine is slightly tilted down towards the rear since I had to make room to remove the transfer case. Everything above is completely dry and clean. It looks to be above the sump where the engine block and...

    300 TDI oil leak

I spoke to rebuilder. Both t seals and main seals were replaced.

    300 TDI oil leak

😂I didn't overfill. The sequence of events is that I noticed a leak. Saw that the sump was dented so drained the oil and put in a new sumo with RTV - torqued to spec. There is no oil in the engine besides what might be in the oil filter. A few days later I noticed the same leak with the new...

    300 TDI oil leak

Makes sense. Will drop the pan again. No oil is coming from the wading hole in bellhousing so didn't think it would be main.

    300 TDI oil leak

So maybe main seal or t seals?

    300 TDI oil leak

I didn't remove the paint from the sump flange. Will try again and remove the paint.

    300 TDI oil leak

The sump is brand new. I just installed it and has similar leaks

    300 TDI oil leak

This are some photos of the old sump. The leak is in the same place. Between sump flange and bottom of engine.

    300 TDI oil leak

Pretty sure it is engine oil. I've cleaned this up several times and it keeps dripping. The strange thing is that there is no oil in engine at the moment and it's still dripping. I see oil sheen between back of sump flange and bottom of engine and flows down flywheel cover.

    300 TDI oil leak

Hi everyone, I have an oil leak on the rear of the sump. My original sump was pretty dinged up and bent so I replaced it and resealed with Loctite ultra black according to instructions. However I am still getting the leak in the same place. The photos show the leak after resealing and no oil in...
