    Defender rebuild

I had it looked at by someone I trust, no hazard warning lights, leaking fuel tank, leaking pretty much everywhere in fact, split rubbers, just everything generally wrong, that was a couple of days after it had aledgidly past an mot lol

    Defender rebuild

Good idea, I'll try and get some pics up in a bit. I really do like it and would rather keep it, but it's got to be achievable or it's going to become an expensive garden ornament that rots away, anything in particular to take pictures of?

    Defender rebuild

First of all apologies if this is in the wrong place as I'm not sure. So I bought a ex mod defender and I loved it , I've been slowly putting bits and pieces right, spent a few quid on top of the initial purchase. I took it in to be looked at as the starter had gone and it was a nightmare to...

    200tdi oil

Yep, I've always done that for any vehicle I've owned, and I'd think even more important for an older vehicle to get rid of particles that may wear off old engine surfaces.

    200tdi oil

Not saying its definitely better, but if there's no reason against semi synthetic, I might go that route incase its better.

    200tdi oil

Hmmmm That's put a cat amongst the pigeons, I was considering 5w40 fully synthetic, definitely wasn't going to go mineral. Anything other than cost against either fully or semi synthetic?

    200tdi oil

Hi Sorry if this has been done to death already, but I have a defender 200tdi Ive just bought and want to give it a big service as I don't know when it was last done. Should I use full synthetic oil or go with semi. Is full synthetic likely to cause leaks or will it be or is the no difference...

No parts are fairly cheap compared to many vehicles and due to lack of electronics (on earlier models) they're easier to work on in many ways, even a replacement engine can be had for hundreds rather than thousands of pounds. The most important thing in my opinion is the chassis and bulkhead and...

I'd say it depends! How handy are you with a spanner? Are you prepared that your not buying trouble free motoring? But that said, if you have the money and the time and don't mind the points above, I love mine. I'm still not sure I've done the right thing and I'm far from a mechanic so I'm...

Thanks. No leaks, just screaching belts, cracked windscreen, leaking steering box, speedo and fuel gauge not working, that should keep me busy . On the plus side the chassis and bulkhead look good to my untrained eyes.

Hi everyone, never owned or even driven a defender until last week, just bought a 90s 200/300tdi (I'm not sure ) and got to say its the worst handling, most uncomfortable thing I've ever driven, but I love it that much its now my daily driver. I've been reading a lot of threads on here with...
