    Static timing looks ok. I have rotar arm a few degrees before no.1 plug lead, and compression in no.1 cylinder as it rises to the top of its stroke. I guess next step is rocker cover off to be sure i have the right cycle and exhaust valves are definitely shut

    Once i get the distributor out , i will open up the loom and check the cables. I do have a niggling feeling it may be a bad connection. However while the distributor is out i'll swap the amp as removing the disi is such a PITA.

    Thanks the coil will be 2nd on the list to swap . I have found a brand new lucas coil that i ordered but did'nt use on a previous v8. Is this interchangeable with the bosch unit ? Coil specs seem non existent these days !
