    Difficulty popping into reverse..

No. it goes into the forwards OK. The reverse has always been a bit of a clutch-rev-popintoreverse procedure. now it is just difficult. the clutch peddle does not spring back either, not sure if that's related..

    Vehicle purchase not as described?

My guess is that the matrix failed due to the rad being filled with water not coolant, causing corrosion resulting in a blockage / leak in the matrix. the hole was probably unblocked on the return journey which was 200 miles. All I know is that the matrix poured like an open tap from a hole in...

    Vehicle purchase not as described?

Arguing the case helps to weigh it up.. it was a private purchase, obviously more difficult to resolve except through small claims, which rests on the validity of the claim argument - in this case whether a vehicle with a broken heater core can fairly be described as having an engine with no...

    Vehicle purchase not as described?

True, it can be bypassed. I did this before removing the heater matrix and could have kept it like that if I didnt mind freezing my ***** off during the winter months. I suppose you could likewise say a radiator in your home is not needed to cool the property..? A cold home wont break it, but it...

    Vehicle purchase not as described?

Sure heaters are not essential, but radiators are.. The heater is an extension of the rad / cooling system. No coolant = no engine surely? Nobody would disagree that an essential part of the engine is its fluid, whether that be oil or coolant. any issue with either surely describes the engine as...

    Vehicle purchase not as described?

I bought the vehicle a 2007 Discovery. It was described on the advert with the statement 'Engine and Gearbox fine, no problems'. He also confirmed in person that there were no issues with the cooling system, head gasket or ancillaries to the engine. I have a copy of the advert. However after...

    Difficulty popping into reverse..

I dont think so. It pop's into first OK. The clutch pedal is not returning well either, maybe both are related issues? I'm not familiar with master and slave cylinder issues, but why would that effect the reverse and not the rest?

    Difficulty popping into reverse..

LR 109 1984. 4 gears with OD. I'm having increased trouble getting it into reverse. It goes in with a bit jiggling with the stick and clutch pedal, not sure if the clutch is the issue. All other gears are fine. Any ideas?

Series 3 Diesel fuel return pipes leaking, etc..

I think so. I used the parts listed in the conversion, for a while I assumed the problem was the thermostat as the water in the rad always looked suspiciously clean, so pulled that out but no change, still gets hot. Perhaps even in cold wales a fan is needed if the engine has to work hard.

Series 3 Diesel fuel return pipes leaking, etc..

Some time back I converted my S3 1984 petrol to a 200 Di (turbo removed), following the Glencoyne method. Amazingly it works great and I've had very little trouble since. Although for the trouble I wonder if it was worth it (the petrol was just as good). Anyway now I do have some minor problems...
