    You will have to torch the horns to get them to crack off, then it's brute force and ignorance to move them. Plenty of old exhaust manifolds on ebay for cheap if you get desperate

    Turns out i settled at nearly more or less exactly where yours is currently. Think my return hose came from bearmach if that helps? the hose is like a piece of exhaust flexi on the inside

    The inlet hose is much more flexible than the return, don't remember it being a problem, looking at your photos i'd say the inlet feed hole should be at 11:30 - 12 o'clock ish rather than the 12:30 it's at currently. i'll have a look under my bonnet later to remind myself

    Normally they stick open once they're wasted, same principle as your coolant stat just smaller - one hand on the oil cooler inlet and one on the outlet once warm soon shows if it's buggered (i.e outlet should be cooler than the inlet but not cold) . Doubtful it would cause excessive oil...

    That's a spot on observation. Scratch that disconnection point i may have made several times :confused: Better than the engine munching on that sock!
