    FL2 Odd electric issue

Of course, that makes a lot of sense even with my limited knowledge of how power-hungry the FL2 is in it's 'poised' state. So, time to find a diagnostic unit which I can pretend is for me to be able to do work on my own car 😁

Guilt by association and section 59 tickets

IANAL and all those other disclaimers but.... Can you challenge a Section 59 at the time and require them to show evidence that you meet the criteria, especially if you are assisting a motorist in distress? If you refuse to accept the warning can you force their hand to try a different tack? If...

    FL2 Odd electric issue

Elderly gent down the road has a 2010 FL2 (manual) which has stopped behaving. Apparently when he initially gets in and presses the Start button the temp gauge is at maximum but the engine does not turn over. He had already arranged for someone to fit a new battery just in case but that has made...

DIY or call in a professional?

Forgot to say, I did download a manual and it was sort of helpful. Some of the instructions assumed a degree of experience rather than usable details (remove the trim - How, crowbar? Cutting torch? Expeliarumus spell?) but in general it gave enough guidance. I don't think I will ever feel...

DIY or call in a professional?

Woohoo....got a replacement through from FleaBay and despite my outstanding mechanical skills I managed to replace it in less than 90 minutes. It would have been quicker if I hadn't forgotten the top trim and had to take the door card off again :vb-doh:

DIY or call in a professional?

Went out to the car last night intending to use it to go to a pub quiz but found the rear passenger door had an issue with the quarterlight window (may not be the correct naming but the non-moving bit) having been shattered. It was probably done when the council came round strimming the verges...

    Good mechanic near Fortrose needed

Doh! That would have helped Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Auto

    Good mechanic near Fortrose needed

Hi All Had an issue a while back with a bit of the front nearside coil snapping off and took it to the local LR Dealer for a replacement and full inspection of both sides since I only have book knowledge and no real experience. This was not a cheap option but I had thought it would be worth...

what have you done to your freelander today

My phone stopped connecting through Bluetooth and having read stories on here about the modules I was getting worried about even more costs but I had a brainwave.... Got my wife to come out and her phone connected fine so did a power off reset on mine and woohoo...All good again empty wallet...

What have you done to your Freelander today

Girded my loins and disassembled the tailgate to replace the switch. Turns out that is really is as simple as the videos suggest even if it did terrify me pulling the card out of the clips as it takes more force that I really want to put on a 'cosmetic' item. Central (un)locking is now working...

    Unintended shortening of shock spring

That should have been an obvious thought....I really must try harder

    Unintended shortening of shock spring

Had some odd noises today resulting in a pinging of something bouncing off the underside and when I recovered it from the road it turns out to be part of the spring from the front nearside shock. It is almost a complete loop and the big question is how unsafe it is to drive now. Plan to get it...

What have you done to your Landie today.

Shortened the spring on the front nearside shock. Hadn't planned to and not sure why it happened but I have an almost complete circle of spring metal that I gathered from the road and the shear is a match for the current end of the spring. Now have to find a day when I have nothing planned so I...

    Phone connection

Presuming you have a USB connector available in the centre console, have you tried connecting with a cable? I use this even though I am able to connect with Bluetooth just to ensure I keep the phone battery topped up.

    Forum Upgrade April 2023

Looks more like Magnolia to me, I had flashbacks of 1970's office buildings for a moment

    What's this?

Always amazes me how some of these spares are sensible prices. Last parts I got where the bolt/insert/thingie that screws into the roof for mounting the roof rails and they were less than £3 each

    SATNAV Update possible?

I have looked a few times at getting a cheap 10" tablet with a removable mount rather than the phone so I can have a much larger screen. If I actually went anywhere that I didn't know more than once a year I may actually get my arse in gear but the idea hasn't gone away yet.

    decentralised Central Locking

Many thanks for that, I was hoping for co-incidence as while that means two things to fix, they would be much lower complexity

    decentralised Central Locking

I think something is crumbling into dust as my central locking is failing in it's one task A couple of weeks ago the front passenger door began not always unlocking when I hit the button on the remote but that is just a case of leaning over and opening it by hand and all the other doors...

What have you done to your Freelander today

Identified an issue with the heating systems in the cabin...got back in after walking the dog and started the engine which kicked in the aircon heating. Turned on the seat heaters and the steering wheel heater and gave everything a few minutes to warm up and went to pull away when I found the...
