    The coolant level (in the header tank) seems ok, it's up near the top line. The gauge reads "normal" within seconds of turning the ignition on then it will jump up to "max" then at random occasions go to normal or max. This is why I'm thinking it's the sender

    If this is an easy/obvious question that I'm asking of you all please forgive me as im new to the freelander fraternity. Is there a Haynes manual or similar that covers the v6 engine? I have the 3929 edition ( the one with the red cover) that covers everything but the engine

    :eek:Both!!!! Good grief, I thought there was just the Onei can see when looking at it and that's got umpteen hoses and wires going in over and round it

    This morning I went out to it and with the ignition on the gauge reads normal ( even though it's cold out there) Also it's struggled to start, presumably as the sensor is telling the brain that it's hot and therefore giving it no "choke" So, if the sensor is in the v does that mean I've to...

    You trueY are correct:) now my problem is one of the small hoses below the big one has just split so I'm off to the local motor factors before they shut. At least it's not snow/raining

    right, here we are on Christmas Eve and the Freelander I bought the Mrs looks like it's got a duff temperature sender. It's a 2001 v6 one and I was wondering if anyone can tell me where the sender can be found. I've taken the top cover off the engine peered around but I'll be damned if I can...
