    Thanks for all who've contributed, I borrowed the comp tester so wont be able to do the oil in the plug hole to check the rings, its suggested that I may have dropped liners on two pots so I may be looking at an engine swap out! Best quote for which is £500!!!** is this about the going rate guys??

    here are the compression test results #1 175 #2 155 #3 170 #4 150 #5 185 #6 185 #7 180 #8 180 Plug #1-4 were black with soot ..plugs in the other head seemed ok..all cleaned replaced and engine runs but not smoothly..so to the diagnosis..any suggestions guys?
