    200TDI cyclone breather dissected

If the inside of the hoses to and from the turbo are covered in oil, then it sounds like it's pushing oily vapour through the cyclone breather. If that's the case it will be burning a certain amount of oil. The dark smoke coming out of the exhaust could also be poorly burnt fuel, so perhaps your...

What have you done on your 90/110/130 today?

One of the spade connectors used to drop off mine. Only ever noticed every MOT Can be pushed back on with fingers through the grille.

    Defender 90 "Father & Son" Re-Chassis Project ('91 Reg)

I rebuilt my 300Tdi ten years ago. It's a 96 plate. Rear cross member was shot and the outriggers were forming holes, so I decided to get a galv chassis. As shayne said, the hidden secrets, even at that age, were considerable. It'll be a biblical style miracle if you lift the body off and don't...

200 TDI cluch pedal randomly not engaging

Sounds like you've done a good job so far. Don't quote me on these figures until we've checked a manual, but the bottom of the clutch pedal has to be set at 5.5" away from the floor and there needs to be a 1mm gap at the end of the master cylinder rod for it to be set properly. Or pretty close...

200 TDI cluch pedal randomly not engaging

Lynall means the seals in either the slave or master have broken down and are contaminating the fluid with rubber. Change both, but you might as well change the contaminated fluid while you're on.

    300Tdi clutch

Have you investigated the hand brake drum as @dag019 suggested? This would be an excellent initial thing to do and could well turn out to be the issue. I've got a 300Tdi, rebuilt the whole vehicle, rebuilt the engine and replaced the clutch. If I was thinking about replacing the clutch again the...

    Defender Wing Panel Repair

I can't remember that much movement back over, but you must be right. If the rod isn't dropping out it must be attached to the fork and that amount of movement must be correct.

How is the rod moving so much?

    Defender Wing Panel Repair

Pretty sure the LT77 fitted in a Discovery had an elongated bell housing compared to the Defender. If your gearbox is out of a Discovery and is now mated to a Defender 200Tdi then that might be the issue. Having said that I'd have thought you would have encountered engine mounting issues as the...

Stainless caliper pistons from heratidge any good?

I did the same as Brown about 9 years ago, so possibly on Brown's advice! I remember a post about needing to get OEM seals. I did the front calipers as the rear ones were too far gone to get all the pistons out so had to buy new rear calipers. I've just replaced those rear calipers, but the...

I was thinking along those lines.

What have you done on your 90/110/130 today?

That sounds odd. Would it not turn over with the battery or the jump pack?

What have you done on your 90/110/130 today?

It was a pain. I spent yesterday afternoon trying to hammer that socket on the two seized bolts. Then went on Screwfix again and ordered a 5 pack of 1.5mm metal cutting discs for the angle grinder, because I only had stone cutting discs left. The Mrs picked them up on the way home from work. It...

What have you done on your 90/110/130 today?

Changed the rear discs and calipers as they were sh@gged. Three of the caliper bolts did the usual rounding off trick. Bought some of these from screwfix They took one off no bother, which sorted one caliper. However, couldn't get them to hammer on the remaining two bolt heads. Nothing for it...

What have you done on your 90/110/130 today?

Nothing on the landy today. Replaced the offside driveshaft and CV joint on my sons Citroen C3. It's quiet and smooth now :)

    Smoking Turbo pipe?

Classic 😀 Back in those days engines seemed to managed about 70K and then were knackered. Tastiest I had back then was a Mini 1275GT. Loved it 😎 Had the engine out of that a couple of times sorting the idler gear out. I remember heating the casing up on my mother's gas cooker to help knock the...

@Dub Siren Apologies from me for not spotting it was a 110, I just had a quick look at the thumbnail, didn't open it.

    Smoking Turbo pipe?

@Dub Siren I initially created the wrong link on that PADDOCK SPARES hyperlink above. I've changed it and added it to the capital letter link in this post too. This is the link to ALL EXHAUSTS SYSTEMS ON PADDOCKS

    Smoking Turbo pipe?

Is it an ex military vehicle? If so it would have likely had a 2.5NA (naturally aspirated) engine in it before the 300Tdi was swapped in. It might still have the old exhaust system set up or they may have changed it. Looking underneath and seeing where the exhaust hangers are would give you a...

    Smoking Turbo pipe?

When an engine's piston rings and cylinder bores are worn you can get combustion gasses getting past the rings and in to the crankcase. The crankcase is the bottom part of the engine where all of the oil returns to, the crankshaft is spinning around in here connected to the pistons. This gas...
