    2004 TD4 - intake manifold ports leaking?

Hey up - all back together over the weekend and working fine. I am sure the pick up is a little better, but the other half doesn't notice a thing! I tightened the manifold bolts up to the Haynes recommended torque settings, so fingers crossed this should be AOK now - I took some time to clean...

    2004 TD4 - intake manifold ports leaking?

Thanks all for your replies. I had no idea of those sorts of pressures being involved - I can perhaps understand why that crud breached the seals now, especially with the EGR in full flow. Anyways it looks like I am way on track then. Manifold now clean as can be... 3 x lots of Mr Muscle 1 x...

    2004 TD4 - intake manifold ports leaking?

Great thanks. I did notice the old one is almost white and the new one is clear plastic! I must admit my heart did sink a little when I saw it hanging there - even the Haynes manual doesn't explain, which I thought was a little odd.

    Greetings from Somerset

Not a million miles away from the plains. Home is just off the edge of the Quantocks so we're alright, although the roads to get here can be fun sometimes. I think all the other elephants would laugh at a hippo with a bamboo cane... :D

    Greetings from Somerset

Hiya. It's our second car. Wheels for the better half to get to college when I'm working away. At this moment in time I work from home most the time so the Freelander is a second jobber against the company Yeti, which gets most the trips and general wear and tear.

    2004 TD4 - intake manifold ports leaking?

3 tins of oven cleaner (thanks Mr Muscle) and a very messy down stairs bathroom (the better half suggested this rather oddly) I now have my intake manifold soaking for the night. I forgot to pop off the sensor before caking it with oven cleaner and rinsing - without referring to the Haynes...

    Greetings from Somerset

Cheers. I'll see what happens at MOT time in a couple of weeks... lucky I have a friend in the tyre (and MOT) trade - but the wear on the inside of the OSF looks a bit iffy to me. I suspect Mr MOT tester will reveal something before I have time to investigate... Shame I'm on 17" rims...

Yes that would make it a bit hairyer! I am a sensible old fart most of the time to be honest. :p Just a quick question - I set up a thread on the Freelander part this morning which when submitted advised that it would need to be approved by a moderator. How long does this process usually take?

    Greetings from Somerset

Hi all Just a quickie to introduce myself. Not so long ago the better half wrote off our second car, a Shogun Pinin. It was a nice little truck, but useless in the wet and unfortunatley Claire forgot to engage the selectable 4WD a month or so ago. No one was hurt, but the car coming...
