Can someone help me please? I have a 99 Freelander 3 dr 1.8 hardtop. The key fob turns on and off the alarm. It also opens the tailgate but you need the key to open and close the driver and passenger door. Is this something I could fix or am I in trouble?

I believe the drive shaft was removed because 4x4 wasn't needed and the previous owner was told fuel economy would improve.
