Right then!! It started!! After unplugging the ECU & reconnecting it the fuel pump whizzed into action, fuel lines filled with lovely diesel, boosted the battery & let her rip!! I did not get any fault messages on the display. Has anyone else had a problem of this nature?

Thanks for that. Browsing through some related posts and threads there seems to be a few members with similar trouble. I'll take on board some of the suggestions from those. One other thing. Is it ok to use a booster box to help start a flat battery?!?!
