    P38A Steering wheel removal

Might have purchased a wood/leather steering wheel for my dhse. In the past I've stripped my wheel down to refurb the buttons but after removing the big nut I couldn't get the wheel off the splines. I then realised that the wheel hasn't got to come off to do the buttons so I put the nut back on...

    P38A Tailgate wouldnt open.

Couldn't get me shopping out, frozen stuff in there too! All doors opened fine then I remembered 'something' about slapping the lower tailgate around the numberplate area and it worked yay! Dinner was saved! What needs looking at before it potentially fails big time? Never done it before.

P38A Reverse lamp, electrickery knowledgeable peeps, what do you think?

Can't see much when reversing in the dark, replacement led bulbs from halfords a bit better but still poor. I've spotted a durite(usually good quality stuff)reverse lamp that will fit quite neatly under the rear bumper for around £30. 6" wide, 1" high, 1"deep. Screenshot of the spec below. Bit...

    P38A Emptying a diesel tank.

My new vdo pump has arrived and as I need to keep the tank half full to keep driving I've thinking about how to empty it for removal. Is there an anti syphon arrangement in the filler system anywhere? I've got a 12v fuel pump that I'll probably have to step down the 3/4" hose on it.

    P38A CDL issue

Just started today. Car won't lock or unlock off the fob. Led is flashing on it though. Key locks and unlocks all doors BUT The right hand rear (behind the drivers door) sill button does not Go up or down but it does "twitch" a bit like it's trying to. Coincidence or two separate issues?

    P38A Connector ID query.

I see that the various connectors on a p38 all have an ID number in the electrical manual. ie c244, is this number moulded into the connector? Just curious.

P38A Am i stranded? EML on..

About 4 miles from home, eml came on(little icon of an engine block), no differance in running at all, pulled into a lay by, and popped the bonnet, can see nowt amiss. Turned the engine off, waited 10mins then checked stuff again, oil, water all good. Started her up, lamp still on so switched...

    P38A Eas issues

Not mine, a mates. Paid him an unannounced visit yesterday and he has an eas issue I didn't know about so didn't have my nanocom. It was raining hard so couldn't fiddle much on his drive. His car is dropping to at least access height within a minute of parking up. The car, yesterday, had been...

    P38A Bonnet release

Has suddenly gone very stiff, so much so that I thought the plastic cabin lever might break. Its always been a bit stiff but always opened fine until today. Is it worth stripping it out and trying to lube the cables up? Or is it a faff and just buy a new one? Britpart one OK? Latches move...

    P38A Central locking query

I'm sure , fairly sure anyway, that I had this issue before, posted it somewhere on this site and @Datatek answered, seem to recall it was probably a sticky latch micro switch. Spent over an hour searching for my post on 'what have you done on your RR today' and cant find it. im not even sure...

    P38A Door dropped

On my mates 38. Happened quite suddenly he says, making opening the door difficult, he's popping round mine this afternoon so I can have a look (works nights). Looking at mine, there are bolts both sides of the door(osf) so I'm guessing there will be adjustment there? Door lifts 25mm in play on...

AC dye, ok to put in engine/gearbox?

200tdi in me tratter. Chasing oil leaks, the transbox is proving a pita to find a leak or leaks same with the engine. Got a UV torch so a bit of dye in the oil should help but will it bugger something?

Is it possible to renew the front springs...

by only removing the top damper nut and compressing the damper down? Might be a silly question but got an advisory on the mot for all 4 springs, rears easy but the fronts can be a pita because of the usually corroded lower damper nut and access to it. I fitted new posh dampers to the front maybe...

    Old car electrical question.

I've got a 1946 morris 8 series E. Back story is it was stored from 1966 until my dad got it around 8 yrs ago, then he got cancer soon after and I was determined to get it on the road before he died so he could have a run in it. No welding was required but lots of mechanical stuff was needed...

    P38A A/C....next logical move?

Around 18 months ago I had the ac regassed at kwikfit as it wasn't working, it then did, yay! But only for a few weeks, boo!. Took it to my local indy and they reported condensor leaking, I fitted a new condensor and new pipe between compressor and condensor(a known mod is to fit the earlier...

P38A On going leak off issue, driving me mad!

Back story...all leakoffs replaced around 2 yrs ago with proper 3.2mm gates stuff. All have been fine except number 1 injector return to the banjo on the fip. I've remade this one 3 or 4 times until I discovered blow by past the injector copper washer, I replaced this and all was fine but not...
