You are more self sufficient than us then. At the risk of more or less copying @Stanleysteamer 's question, what do you do for electricity? We used to get a lot of power cuts and occasionally found that there were only two out of three phases working which is dangerous for the heath of the well...

Lovely - I do love a shallot, onions in general, red onions, pickled onions, fried onions, onion chutney etc. etc.

A well and deliveries by lorry. The well will be lost when we sell the old house. At new house I had the tank put on the highest part of the land so at least its good on gravity now, pumping is a nuisance as surprisingly expensive. So then it will be lorries only. They are 10000 L and I...

Very useful for grey water and rain water with linking pipes off the valves. Many of ours are perishing now and the pallets have vanished. I'll be junking some soon but the metal cages are good for containing firewood and other offcuts.

Sounds very similar. Post with the house address will go to the village post office because 'it doesn't exist' and it just sits on a shelf until it gets returned 2 weeks later. Often mixed up too, I've ended up sorting through loads of people's letters to check in the past. So we don't bother...

Same here, its hard to get the same thing twice, a nightmare when matching is important. Materials being stocked is the inevitable result, we've been tripping over a lot of stuff for ages while things progress.

Insurance has gone up a lot. Tax too, I was looking at tax for the Laguna the other day and it's 340 sovs! Gone up 70 quid in three years. I suppose its because its 2 litre and old, they want cars like that off the road.

I would question any lawyer/solicitor who allowed the change of will to be done under those circumstances.

Sounds like you have had a similar experience to us although I venture we've done more of the work ourselves and overall started longer ago, not trying to out-do you but explain why I said I'm going mad (think Father Dougal sitting in the caravan, I think that's where he said it). We've managed...

Not as simple as that. It was a guess but a friend planted the pip and gave the seedling to us as he said if we plant it in Spain it might do something. It was probably a small tree, I'll have to see if I took any photos of it. Drove it over in my van, no problem with that sort of thing then...

Nice idea but no postal deliveries here. Couriers want to meet in the village at short notice so I'd have to drive there anyway. Everything else goes to a PO box which is slightly further away than the plumbing shop.......

I quite like the RT and SE stripes that go round the rear end like a belt.

No. One fig tree, no figs. Possibly too young. We have a grapefruit tree which was grown from a pip. It was 20 years before it bore fruit.

Well I didn't want to open up another load of conflab and I can't remember your original post but I think I broadly agreed with it and also your above post. I'm not taking any pensions yet and will probably never truly retire, both occupational schemes are old and tiny and the personal one...

Wow that's one productive tree. I'll be picking grapes at the end of the month, almonds at the end of Sep and oranges at Christmas.

Nice. I assume that's 90 or 110mm pipe. I have got lots and lots of photos like that, I could really bore people... It's worth getting it central though, apart from any practical considerations I would probably for ever look at it being off-centre and regret not sorting it out.

I have to say I am not trying to be deliberately evasive but it really does depend. I couldn't think of anything better in the face of not wanting to commit to a place that I am not always in, didn't want to keep changing it and in the face of the world we live in today didn't want a profile...

It is usually possible to twist the pipes out by hand - there was another fitting on the end which is now mangled but that came off. The length of the whole run was critical so I pushed them all the way home to get it right, that one was stuck. Maybe the internal bore had a lump or flaw. I...

Bit of a plumbing problem today. Doing a dry run to set the angles before glueing and couldn't get this bit of pipe out, no matter what I did. Eventually using a hairdryer to heat the fitting a bit managed to yank the pipe out. Saved an otherwise pointless 50km round trip Monday to get...
