Thanks everyone! Need to check that out this afternoon after work!

    Classic Lucas Starter Motor Wiring

Do, ignition goes to the small one (white red if I remember correctly) everything brown or brown white, along with the thick main wire from the positive battery pole, to the screw without wires. The thick red wire is then the earth to the engine? And the wire to the coil (white pink) goes to...

    Classic Lucas Starter Motor Wiring

Hi there, so, I do have my problems with the new wiring harness. Especially with everything ignition and strater related, funny enough including the horns and beam lights as they share some of the circuits. Anyway, I found an old Lucas starter lying around. I did order a new one anyways, but...

CORRECT FUEL PUMP FOR DISCO 1, 3.5 ON CARBS - CONFUSING!!??

In the double carb set up, at least my double Zeniths, there is fuel return line from the right hand carb. The pump fills the float chamber of the left one, then the right one. Any excess fuel goes back to the tank. To much pressure might flood the carbs.

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Sooo, I think I narrowed my electrical worries down a bit, maybe even to the root cause but that's to early to tell for now. Got a new battery today, and then did some other testing. Everything is working, including the interior lights. Exceptions are: horns, the non-constant beam, coil and...

    Classic Brake Pipes

Thanks folks, so I'll get a flanging tool, some copper-nickel tubing and all necessary fittings. A man needs something to do during the next winter! By the current rate, I'll do the cylinder heads myself next year! 😳

CORRECT FUEL PUMP FOR DISCO 1, 3.5 ON CARBS - CONFUSING!!??

It was already installed when I bought the car. Since then, she got a new fuel tank, a disco 1 if memory serves well as that was done at a garage. And a new sender unit, I think it was the pre-85 sender unit. The fuel line goes straight to a plug in the tank, then to the pump, then to the filter...

    Classic Brake Pipes

Hi all, so, I did stumble over a RRC brake pipe kit from Automec on sale when looking for something else a week ago. The price was really good, lamded including VAT and customs less than a hundred bucks instead of 200+ pounds as sold by Automec. It was advertised as LHD RRC, and the MYs were...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

I love that color! Well, I managed to plug the trailer socket. Aparently it s too much to ask for normed cables, e.g. for standardized 13 pin sockets, to adhere to a color scheme. At least the pin usage is common between providers... Anyway, the horn isn't working. And the intermittent beam...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Maybe some earth issue at the coil, previousoy, there was some weird transistor ignition, and I tried to reconnect everything the way it was ehen that was removed by my mechanic. But then even that was not original, and now the fuel pump is getting power as specced, maybr I forgot the earth from...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Yep, including a new earth main between starter and chassis. Most likely I mixed up some wires somewhere. Has to wait until this afternoon, back to work it is... And I mean a paid day job...

CORRECT FUEL PUMP FOR DISCO 1, 3.5 ON CARBS - CONFUSING!!??

The fuel injection pumps have way to much pressure. An alternative would be a Red Top Focet pump. Those are inline so, I have one in the engine bay on a 3.5 carb RRC. Works great. Not sure if that setup works on a Disco 1, it should so, as the underside is basically the same thing. Not sure...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

So, tied everything up. Connected the 13-pin trailer plug, but didn't put the left tail light back in in the dark. My dad is staying until tomorrow, he's the wood person, so he'll put the camping stuff back in the trunk (place for the spare tire, a drawer for a cooker, some kitchen utensils and...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Today way better: The indicator lights, fog light, front and tail lights, warning flasher, they all work. Indocator lights were tricky, the frint right hand one had weird wiring issues... Luckily, I had some spares! The tailgate wiring is now inside, as is the rear harness. Two holes behind the...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

True that! Found some heat-protective tubing that is also used as a general wiring protection. And it is much cheaper! We'll see tomorrow, if I ge to the point of testing and the test is successfull! Fingers crossed, because I found a set of Black-White wires in the engine bay, right next to the...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Remind me again, cats sleep. A lot! Turned out that picking up where you left before a three week vacation, and a night drive back home, is a bad idea. The horn is installed (bolt one), the diff switch retainer around the gear lever is installed (bolts 2 - 9), the cable that goes to the fuel...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Only works until the big parcels reveal small items! I did tell her that I can use the parts I don't need when I'm finally done. Which actually is the plan, so if someone needs a RRC steering column, let me know!
