Inactive Air Suspen Warning After New Battery & Alternator

AllComms seems to be the way to go. It's worth reading about how and why Storey Wilson developed it: More about Me The description is half way down titled 'The Beginning' If someone has single handedly gone to that much work, even if it is a few pounds more that some others (I don't...

Early L322 vs later. Any good?

The only people who can really give an informed opinion are those that have lived or work with more than one of the L322 variants. :) The BMW engines have a longer history and there are no doubt more of them about so more problems will be reported. That doesn't make it a worse or better...

    parking sensors fault

I've had crazy parking sensors. The paint bubbling was causing the problem. If it is bubbling scape off the paint with a blade, sand down the corrosion on the aluminium (check that it then works) and paint over it (I just used some black smoothrite paint). I've had two go in the last 3...

Inactive Air Suspen Warning After New Battery & Alternator

I have the same. Not saying your compressor is in the same place but for mine, when looking at the boot from the back of the car, there is a flap (car is being used so I wold take a photo) to the right of the large square cover that covers up your LPG tank (where the spare wheel was). My...

    Hidden Menus / Functions - 2002 - 2005 (BMW engines)

"I was kindly directed by Saint as to the ability to display hidden information for the car. There are a number of guides on the web but I thought I would write something with formatting and images" BMW Engined 2002-2005 Hidden Menus / Functions Instrument cluster menus The first set...

Inactive Air Suspen Warning After New Battery & Alternator

Over the past weeks I have learnt a reasonable amount about how the air suspension hangs together and what causes what errors. There are others on here with much more knowledge as well. What is required is the fault readout, once we have that isolating it will be easier. A simplified...

BMW V8 M62TUB Coolant Temperature Reduction using a lower temp thermostat

If that is an 88oC thermostat in a stock body that is a good price. It will be interesting to see what the stationary idle temp and driving temp of the coolant will be with the 88oC thermostat since this 80oC thermostat gives ~90oC coolant temp. The key thing from all this is 'Figure...

Temerpature gauge goes straight to max

Thanks to everyone for the replies. I thought I would write back with what happened. Well, after being away for a week and fitting a thermostat mod the temperature gauge it went back to normal! Great but not so great as it will happen again. I did do some further research and from the...

BMW V8 M62TUB Coolant Temperature Reduction using a lower temp thermostat

For a while I have been concerned with the coolant temperature in the L322 BMW V8 engine and following on from: http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f10/two-failed-thermostats-2-months-267358-5.html. The engine temperature is controlled using: A thermostat to control flow of coolant to...

L322 BMW V8 - Not another coolant leak ...and an oil leak for fun too

Not the greatest picture - this was taken before removal. The inlet nylon elbow on the vaporiser was shot to bits. Literally crumbled away once I had the unit out. I bought a refurb kit PRINS VSI Reducer Repair Kit (B,C,D,E) - my reducer had E4 on the label inside a...

TWO failed thermostats in 2 months ??

Quite right, Boyles law etc. Still I'm so bored of all the cooling issues I've had and if this helps keep things cooler I'll be happy...I'll happily loose an MPG v a head gasket replacement, also LPG causes my engine to run hotter than on petrol (that is what I understand anyway) - the vehicle...

My sump hex bolt on my L322 was rounded and the inner allen - I hate those impact tools too.

Temerpature gauge goes straight to max

Thanks....it makes sense, however: 1) Why do you think there are two reference voltage lines? 2) One is earthed to the starter motor and one to the alternator. Does this explain why the temp during starting reads okay then when started goes to red? Charlie

Temerpature gauge goes straight to max

Saint, I found the wiring diagram - thanks, image attached. Out of interest what do you think the black/red + purple / dark purple channel is for, one end is open? Charlie

Replacing the PCV Valve and thats when it went a bit wrong....!!!

I think my idle dropped after a new PCV and piping - I could get it to stall by blipping the accelerator see: http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f10/l322-bmw-v8-not-another-coolant-leak-oil-leak-fun-too-266294.html I can't be 100% sure it was lower than before though... After driving it...

    coolant leak...?

It is absolutely a DIY job. The more you get to know the car the better you feel about it. Once the pollen filter hunk of plastic is removed access is okay. You will have to lie on to op the pretty plastic engine cover and look an idiot (I have to work in a busy road and I do feel a bit of...
