LR 19j smoke when turn on.

White smoke = unburnt fuel or coolant. If its cold...more likey unburnt fuel. Coolant would have other symptoms...loss of coolant being one of them. Blue = oil. At startup probably running past valve stem seals. (On Chieftain tanks this was normal thanks to the design of the engine, being a...

LR 19j smoke when turn on.

What colour is the smoke? Black? White? Or blue? And where is it coming from? Tailpipe? Under the bonnet?

    Are lift pumps getting worse?

My 110 has a Isuzu 2.8 engine and that has no lift pump. The Bosch VE rotary does the job once primed and for purging air there is currently a rubber bulb on the fuel line to be squeezed. I cant say I was a fan of the rubber bulb and was thinking a small electric faucet pump down by the fuel...

Intercooler Mounting Rubbers - Look Familiar?

Been staring at rubber grommets for too long...Google is great but the amount of slop served up leaves a needle in a haystack type search. They are close enough. And cheap enough to have a punt and see. And...the brackets are still at a point where they can be tweaked to suit. Thanks Phil.

Intercooler Mounting Rubbers - Look Familiar?

Forward of the rad Izzy carrys a full width intercooler. This is supported by some homemade brackets that are being refurbed, and all are fitted with a common design of support rubber. Does anyone recognise this from the LR parts bin? I need four of them. My guess is the dude who did the...

Rivetting In A Tight Spot - Tooling Recommendations

On the heater box there are 6 rivets that are tight into the joint: Its just too tight for the nose of the lazy tongs. I have Googled a bit and not really turned up anything that looks like it with cope with this or a few spots where some 4.8mm rivets need to go elsewhere. Anyone got a...

    110 Project

Whoever designed the heater box certainly took an interesting route. Or some drugs. One or the other as its ended up complex and both rivetted and spot welded along the same joints. Its consumed 12 hours of my life I reckon. There is the one way it all goes together, and quite a few ways where...

    Electrical box placement (parking sensors)

<hijack> Two problems with Chat GTP et al. Firstly, it has no skin in the game. Secondly, its a bull****ter. Unlike liars who care about the truth and knowingly suppress it, bull****ters dont care what is right or wrong just a long as you believe what they tell you. Having no skin in the game...

Dt connectors or other for N to x pins.

This has occured to me and my DT choice. From a previous life, I had worked with the Deutsch stuff and found it easy to work with and very reliable. The AMP stuff I was aware of and the fact the 300tdi used em was another up vote too. If the DT route persists I have already made a mental...

    110 Project

Smaller but necessary jobs, fitting into the policy of "as it comes off its sorted" and some new brackets being made: Intercooler bracket (above) with a fit check (below). The rear body panels threw a small curve ball. Turns out there was a design change between 87 (original sides) and 92...

    110 Project

Izzy got some fresh air over the weekend. The roof was lifted off in the garage and now hangs from the ceiling. Which is great as its out of the way...but is a bit of a blocker for a couple of the flourescent strip tubes... The side panels are off. Tub will be coming off soon: Smaller jobs...

For the life of me...cannot remember where these cappings are from?

Not quite, but that line of thinking triggered a memory! They go under the centre tub capping - the one on the bulkhead - and rivets through the top capping hold them on. So thank you...jigsaw puzzle piece solved.

For the life of me...cannot remember where these cappings are from?

Parts went off to the platers, but cannot for the life of me remember where they came from. Nor can I find them in the photos or 3D models... They are handed, and I know they are mine (not mixed up) as I stamped "LH" and "RH" on them as an aide memoire: Centre punch for scale. They are a...

    110 Project

Steelwork picked up from the platers today: Which has come up pretty good considering the state some of it was in. Its almost a shame to paint them, but long term protection is needed. Trial fit: There were some cappings that came back that I just cannot for the life of me remember where they...

Dt connectors or other for N to x pins.

I think it would be possible to use a bussed 4-way connector. 3 of the cable entries could be used, and the 4th one filled with a blanking plug - which are available. Like these: DT Blanking Plugs I have not got to a point where I need to make decision...but its one way forward.

Dt connectors or other for N to x pins.

I don't I'm afraid, apart from those shown on page 9 of the PDF link above. Frustratingly they do not do a three way split. But the 4 way looks useful.

Dt connectors or other for N to x pins.

They are not German, but American...which these days some rank as unwelcome too, on account of the trade tariffs. Apparently.

    110 Project

I found another £1.82 stuck to the dash tray with what looks like green Loctite...or very dried up and sticky Nightnurse. This resto wont fund itself so every penny counts!

Dt connectors or other for N to x pins.

I'm in the process of slowly converting every bullet crimp connector to Deutsch DT series (For anyone interested, more info here: DT Series Tech Specs) I knew them from a previous life and decided to fit them wherever possible on the 110 that is currently undergoing resto. Landyzone thread...
