    non start

Try jiggling the steering as you put the fob into the dock. Often its too much for the servo to unlock the steering when it is pulling to one side. Until it unlocks the steering you wont get any further.

    Freelander TD4 gearbox worries

It should have had a major service last year so check the service record to make sure all the fluids were changed. (Did the previous owner get rid to avoid it). Check it was actually done not just stamped.

    Snapped bolt

That’s exactly what I was about to suggest. The heat from the welder normally frees it off completely and it unscrews effortlessly. Make sure you don’t get weld splatter inside the engine though.

Oil leaks on Freelander 2 2012 plate

All turbos are in the process of failing from the moment they are made. Just how late do you leave it before changing it to be on the safe side? Sounds like they would have you change it as often as you can afford.

Oil leaks on Freelander 2 2012 plate

If a land rover stops leaking, check it has not run out of oil. Land Rover built a oil absorber into the sump guard which suggests they could not stop it. Is it getting through a lot of oil?

    IRD… problem?

They may not have cleaned it thoroughly when it was manufactured and I would expect a certain amount of wear. If it sounds and works ok save your money. Worst case you have to replace it in the future.

    IRD… problem?

Cheapest option see how it goes and do nothing as long as it’s all working.

    Freelander 2 td4 2010 GEARBOX

If you think about it every gearbox in the world is at some stage of “on its way out” because nothing lasts for ever. My last FL2 had clutch shudder but it didn’t get any worse over 4 years so if it’s not causing you a problem I would see how it goes. Make sure you keep your services up to date...

    Freelander 2 td4 2010 GEARBOX

What is wrong with it? Most places that get a chance of getting money from you will tell you anything. Are you absolutely sure it’s imminently going to fail?

    Total electrical power loss.

Sometimes it’s easy to overlook the obvious if you have been working on something else. Where a new set of eyes can stand back and see the bigger picture. Good to hear it’s all fixed.

    Total electrical power loss.

    How did you go on?
  12. Stv123

    Total electrical power loss.

The problem appears to be electrical but is in fact mechanical. Only the body control module is powered up until the immobiliser is turned off. So plugging in a scan tool is pointless until the ignition turns on. The steering lock controller turns the immobiliser off. In days gone by you...

    Total electrical power loss.

You must have pulled on the steering whilst fitting the egr valve at some point locking the steering. So all is good? Had me baffled for a day once.

    Total electrical power loss.

The red lights the immobiliser. when the steering unlocks the immobiliser turns off. Try jiggling the steering as you insert the fob.

    Total electrical power loss.

So it pulls the fob into the dock. (Thought you said nothing works) Does it unlock the steering?
  16. Stv123

    Total electrical power loss.

Ok does it unlock with the key fob?

    Total electrical power loss.

    Is it a Freelander 2?

    Total electrical power loss.

Is anything working? inside lights, satnav, radio etc. There is actually a good reason for asking this.

Freelander 2 (LR2) Poor Battery or Parasitic Drain?

If it cranks over then the battery is probably ok. It would need to be realy flat to affect he keyfob range. When the car is locked there is only the body control module powered up all the rest are all switched off. Battery voltage does sound a bit low. Many garages will check your battry for...

    Freelander 1 3 or 4

Because it’s an old vehicle, dot 4 had not been invented when it was made. Dot 4 just has a higher temperature rating as far as I know.
