FL2 NO START / NO DASH

I expect Land Rover went to Great lengths to make it has difficult to bypass the mobiliser. I would be dubious about using a steering lock emulator that was probably designed and made in China for the soul purpose of bypassing Land Rover immobiliser.

FL2 NO START / NO DASH

On mine, the module that connects to the OBD connector that allows you to check for fault codes is also disabled by the immobiliser which is why I was surprised you could access fault codes. Are you sure these are not old fault code stored by your reader?

FL2 NO START / NO DASH

I have read somewhere of someone drilling a hole into the steering column casing and then spraying silicone lubricant into the steering lock but it sounded a bit extreme to me. As I recall when mine jammed once in the past. Putting the key in the dock turned on the power to the radio and satnav...

FL2 NO START / NO DASH

Until you get the steering lock off and the immobiliser light stops flashing, you will not get any further. It won’t take much from the battery to do that.

Dead battery in fob should only affect remote locking. When it is in the dock it’s powered by the car. (Bit like a contactless phone charger)

FL2 NO START / NO DASH

There are devices that simulate/trick it into thinking the steering lock is off but I wouldnt go down that route. Perhaps the grease in the steering lock has gone thicker in the cold? Try a fan heater on it see if that helps.

I'm supprised you get any codes at all if the dash has not powered up.

    Freelander 2

Think the immobiliser is controlled by the steering lock which do have some issues occasionally

Freelander 2 (LR2) Couple of issues with my 07 FL2.

Gearbox I would consider new filters and fluid change first.

£410 for a replacement rack doesnt sound bad to me. Have you found the garage trustworthy in the past?

    What glue to use?

You will struggle to do a good repair by gluing it back together because as someone mentioned there is only a small surface area. I suspect you will have to devise another way to attach it or come up with a replacement.

    What glue to use?

Why would you try to glue a rivet? Surely you would just replace it. I assumed it was to glue the panel back on.

    Freelander 2 power steering

Most likely the seals in the steering rack. 2006/8 had a manufacturing fault where they didn’t clean out the swarf properly during manufacture I have been told. Reconditioned racks are relatively cheap but fitting them is a bit of a chore.
