Doesn’t look difficult to make or mend if your into engineering. Don’t think I have seen one quite that simple before.

    Freelander 2 (LR2) Engine won’t start

When you put the key fob in. Until you press the start button the only module that is available is the steering lock which apparently needs a special reader to access it. The steering lock turns off the immobiliser and allows you to press the start button to turn on the ign relay. Once that is...

    Freelander 2 (LR2) Engine won’t start

Solved. Me and you tube fixed it. Steering lock was jammed. When you put the key fob into the dock the steering lock has to release to turn off the immobiliser so until the steering lock comes off no point in going any further.

    Freelander 2 key issue

It does sound like its to do with the reciver module. Check the wiring and connectors but it would not supprise me if a replacement would need to be paired with everything else.

Automatic Gear Box Oil Change ?

Think the service schedule says 150k or 10 years so yours has not reached that. I seems a long way without even checking the level so had mine done at 100k. It was quite dirty. If it gives you peace of mind probably worth doing as it will be due soon anyway.

    Freelander 2 key issue

But then it could be a bad connection. Try tracking down the module and cleaning the connectors with switch cleaner.

    Freelander 2 key issue

It sounds like a module failing somewhere but trial and error is a very expensive way to fix things. Do the lock/unlock buttons on the dash still work?

    Freelander 2 key issue

Do you have 2 fobs? If so is it just one that’s giving trouble?
