    P38A Head gasket advice needed

Good to know! I'll keep an ear out for the ticking noise as mine has 266k km. Barely broken in ;)

    P38A Head gasket advice needed

Really would surprise me if there's a blockage because I flushed it out with tap water. I also blew it out with compressed air through the outlet of the heater core, quite thoroughly. (I changed coolant types). But I think that may have been the issue. I blew every last drop of coolant out...

    P38A Head gasket advice needed

Solved it!! Water pump was not damaged, was one with a brass pump wheel so I'm keeping it as a spare. Probably not necessary to have changed it. It was indeed glued in with loads of silicone/RTV. I don't think changing it was what solved my issue. On recommendation of a friend I did not fill...

P38A Mondial vs Hurricane wheels value

Hmmm and what about Triple Sports 🤔 Kinda like the look as a hint towards the classic RR. I'decided 16 inch will be the best choice but 18 inch allows me to get the tyre I want, the Michelin CrossClimate2: Seem to have a thread which would be somewhat competent on grass and gravel/dirt

    P38A Head gasket advice needed

There's no flow going through the bleeding line back to the header tank. If I squeeze the top hose there's gurgling. I'm going to replace the water pump even though I don't know if it's bad or not. It's not expensive and seems reasonably easy to do. The car has been sitting for 10 years so...

    P38A Head gasket advice needed

Yeah I've blown that out multiple times. Will I get a stream of coolant through that pipe if there's an airlock?

    P38A Head gasket advice needed

I'm starting to suspect the water pump is bad, based on other forum posts I find. Bit strange as I didn't have the overheating problem before changing the coolant, but also didn't run the engine long. Any idea how to test the water pump if there is an air lock?

    P38A Head gasket advice needed

So I thought this one was closed but alas it isn't. Tonight a mechanic friend came to pick up the car for its Belgian equivalent of the MOT, which is required to pass before you can register a car. 10mins driving and the temperature was in the red. Still a lot of air in the system it seems...

P38A Mondial vs Hurricane wheels value

I went to look at the one with the Hurricane wheels and its a complete shed 😅 Right rear quarter window broken and stored like that outside for half a year, luckily against a wall... Lots of mould inside. Only pro is that it has the rear seats and they're in good nick. (Context: in Belgium...

FYI here are pics of the Mondials and Hurricanes on similar p38 (colour & year). Mondials: Hurricanes:

P38A Mondial vs Hurricane wheels value

One is a '97, the other I don't know yet. They're diesels, mine's a petrol. Mostly buying it for interior parts, wheels and the rear seats. Idea is to pick/swap what I need and sell it. Yeah they're a factory 18" wheel, the ones that are star shaped. I quite like them but I also like the...

P38A Mondial vs Hurricane wheels value

Hi all, I'm looking into buying a parts car (p38) and have two options at the moment. One has Hurricane wheels, the other has Mondials. Just wondering which of the two are the most desirable/valuable wheels?

What did you do with your Range Rover today

The tailgate button on my green p38 was f'ed. They pulled out wires and you needed to open it by touching one of the wires to the body. Today I learned why they did that I need a new one. Ahh yes my bad, my post was not clear... I meant I wouldn't worry about disconnecting the battery and...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

I would take the alternator off. That's actually quite easy. I wouldn't worry about disconnecting the battery, I'had no issues with it. Just a bit of a faff to reset the window limits etc.

What did you do with your Range Rover today

I messed about today with the bonnet locks. One of the cables was not working smoothly so I flushed then out with wd40 and pumped some ptfe grease in them. I found this issue because I replaced the bonnet release in the cabin. An original LR part yet the slots in which the cables sit are not...

    P38A Tyre advice needed

Had a brief look into them earlier but discarded them on the basis that for the p38 on 16" rims these would come at 180€ per corner, which is incredibly expensive. And since I found no reviews or tests to suggest it was better than the Yokohama g015 I didn't look further into them. I actually...

    P38A Tyre advice needed

After some research I have narrowed down the list to two tyres. Based on reviews, test reports, youtube videos and forum advice. I now need to choose between all season road tyres or mild AT tyres. Since offroading and greenlaning is in most places illegal here in Belgium, I expect my use to be...

    P38A Tyre advice needed

Yeah I won't be able to get those anymore I'm afraid.. But I will stick to the original sizes: 255/65R16 or 255/55R18. I was thinking about those but kind of apprehensive because I have Nexen N'Blue S's on my Seat Leon and they are really quite terrible. I will put them back on the list. I...

    P38A Tyre advice needed

Another tyre thread... Looking for new tyres for my p38. Mostly on road use, toeing etc. But occasional wet grass or slightly muddy tracks. When looking through the forums I find that the General Grabber AT3 is the most recommended tyre but when looking at tyre tests this is really poor with...
