Getting Gwen the Mini to Run.

My MG Metro-ed one did 20 mpg till it got warm then climbed to 40 mpg and the engine then got much tighter evidenced by the starter struggling to turn it over! Which is yet another reason why I stopped driving it to work, as, at 8 miles, the commute didn't get it beyond 20 mpg.

Getting Gwen the Mini to Run.

Now that is interesting, in that I was always told to do the compression test first, on a warm/hot engine, but NOT putting any oil into the bores, then do the same again putting oil in the bores. You seem to have jumped the first bit. If there is is a difference it means there is bore wear. The...

I would just like to say

I eventually found a bit of enzymatic washing powder stuff that W uses, normally she doesn't have anything enzymatic in the place, so I used that, then broke out the VAX steam cleaner and gave it a blast with that. First time we have taken the little hand steam cleaner of it and used it. Quite...

What have you done on your 90/110/130 today?

I was just going to say that a mate had a stainless V8 RR system crack on him, in several places. He drilled the ends to stop them spreading then got me to come over and weld them up with my stainless mig wire. Took the whole system off the car, put it on trestles, welded all the cracks back...

    Odd problem (carburettors)

Me too, but it looks like you are going for a strip down and clean up anyway, rather than just getting them working quickly. I just hope that your work with taking them to bitz and ultrasonically cleaning them doesn't end up with you having to retune them too much.

I would just like to say

That should do it, similar to the one I have been trying to find a pic of for the past, how long? If you turn the engine so the piston is at the top you won't need to worry about the valve falling down into the cylinder!! It'll drop, but not by far!!

    Locking wheel nut adapter missing

Can you put up a pic of it again, with nothing in front of it so we can see where the sticky-outy bit is on it, I don't seem to be able to see it.
