    Series 2 More grunt needed!!

It is best to make sure everything is within spec and working correctly at the outset before considering any upgrades.

    E10 Petrol

Not so much of an issue if using it regularly. But you can remove the ethanol from the petrol if you are parking up the vehicle over winter etc. Google "remove ethanol from petrol" - good vids on Youtube etc.

    1980 S3 Dormobile restoration

A lot of imperial nuts bolts etc are on eBay. I use the LRWorkshop parts diagrams to establish the sizes and go from there. This guy has really good stuff: https://www.lroe.co.uk/Series-2-58-61-Fixings-Fittings/ I've got lots of nuts and bolts from him, correct finish etc, he was on eBay but...

    Door top rebuild

I used a Paintman Panels door top. They are not galv or ally but are excellent quality and have the correct UNF threads and fit like a glove. I wax injected it after painting and used a bit of clear wax in the channels so the screw holes don’t rust. I’d always use original glass over replacement...

    Door top rebuild

In my case I used the one that was on the glass already. I watched several Youtube vids and saw one by a guy called 'steamwally' put it on after the pane was assembled onto the door top, whereas mine already had it on so the sliding pane was installed after assembly. Some of the available parts...

    Rear floor removal

If it is anything like a Series there are about 80 spot welds around the edges as well as the visible rivets for the floor support crossmembers (four for each crossmember). On a SWB it is possible to undo all the tub bolts at the front and the rear crossmember to lift the tub about 3" which is...

Series 3 Essential tool kit for home mechanic?

AF spanners and sockets as well as metric, depending on which Landy. Use the proper size spanner/socket, not a metric one that is 'close enough'. A drain plug tool if you have a Series with slotted drain plugs, and an 8-point 1/2 inch socket makes loosening those 'outie' square plugs a breeze...

Thank you all. Yes, as stated, I had one, then all of a sudden I had 3. Can't work it out.

Thank you! Like many others I suspect I started with one and all of a sudden I had 3!

    Door top rebuild

I got a door channel kit from eBay complete with screws. Even the flat head countersunk screws need screwing down tight to avoid catching the glass. The whole door top thing is relatively simple but needs a bit of fettling to make sure it all works right.

    Introducing myself

Hi there, I'e been a lurker for a while. I've got 3 Land Rovers, a Series 3 109 V8, a 1974 Series 3 88" in Marine Blue and a 1984 Series 3 in Pastel Green. All in petrol. Looking forward to contributing to threads and benefiting from the vast knowledge on here. I'm not an expert mechanic but...
