    P38 DSE EXHAUST HELP.

Update. My lad removed exhaust downpipe cut out original flexi and slid 60mm I.D. exhaust flexi tubing in its place. The tubing was able to be pushed around the bends and then clamped on. Gas tight fit. £18 all in.

    P38 DSE EXHAUST HELP.

Picture of Bearmach part on amazon shows it. Some suppliers show it with flexi and others without or further down the pipe near the Cat. All using same part number. It just mentions that it's for Auto versions.

    P38 DSE EXHAUST HELP.

ESR 3975 is the part number for the downpipe I think, but as prices range from £250 - £650 a new flexi welded in will be the way to go. The link you supplied Wammers unfortunately will not fit due to original flexi too close to bend so the seller informs me. Thanks for looking though.

    P38 DSE EXHAUST HELP.

Anybody know where I can find the part number for exhaust downpipe for 1996 dse auto. Mine has the flexi close to the turbo and this type not shown in my copy of rave. Can it be replaced with the other type that has flexi nearer to cat? It has temp. repair at moment but want to replace it.

Range Rover 2.4 VM Head Gasket Nightmare !

Good luck anyway. I see the head bolt torqueing sequence is long winded backing off one bolt at a time and re torqueing at different temps. etc. Also these engines very difficult to bleed air from cooling system. Try raising expansion tank higher when filling and running up.

Range Rover 2.4 VM Head Gasket Nightmare !

Well my guess is gaskets not aligned. Notice the guides are larger dia. than head bolts so gaskets and heads held in their correct alignment securely while fitting.

These are the guide studs I mentioned. Could be critical for holding gaskets in place.

Range Rover 2.4 VM Head Gasket Nightmare !

Try the forum Scorpio 95+ I think it was called. The full Ford workshop manual for VM diesel was on there where you should see cylinder head fitting guide studs. spacers, calculating head gasket thickness, torque sequence etc. I found the site very helpful when I owned a "Bug Eye" Scorpio.

Range Rover 2.4 VM Head Gasket Nightmare !

Did you have the guide studs for locating heads and gaskets correctly?

Range Rover 2.4 VM Head Gasket Nightmare !

Also did you measure piston protrusion to work out what thickness head gaskets required?

Try google Ford Scorpio vm diesel. Think they had the same unit. Or Ford Scorpio Forums. You may find something there. Transplanted one from a mk.3 Granada into a Transit 4 wheel drive petrol many moons ago. Sweet engine.

    P38DSE Temperature sensitive EAS

Job for next weekend. Still wondering why it should be temperature related. Nitrile O-rings have a huge temperature range as do rubber, Viton, neoprene, polyurethane etc. they should function correctly down to -50c. but who knows what Land Rover uses? Anybody know what the airbags are made of...

    P38DSE Temperature sensitive EAS

Thanks fellows. My son removed drain plug from tank this morning and bone dry. Opened up dryer and same. Put desiccant granules in the oven for half an hour before refitting. Moisture in system was my thinking too in the winter months but the other day outside temp only dropped to 8c.

Sport Should I got for it.......?

Two of my mates both owned RR sports of that era and both got shot within six months even though under warranty still. Said they hardly ever got to drive them as spent so much time back at the dealers for repair. They could just be unlucky of course?

    P38DSE Temperature sensitive EAS

Since refurbing compressor eas has been working well. Levelling straight away after start up, rising and lowering on command etc. However yesterday morning the outside temperature had dropped to 8c and on start up eas was very slow to level, i.e. in raising rear suspension as car sits down a...
