    Front diff leak

They have not told me yet, so can't hazard a guess. What is the worst case?

    Front diff leak

So, car got basic service, all fine, except the front diff has a leak. That's all they told me. Any idea how much this would cost to replace or fix if it's just a seal? I may be a bit vague here.

    Oil change...wtf!!!

If I was a smaller guy I would, but I'm a giant and under the car is a small area so rather they have the fun. Hopefully they won't tighten too hard so I can play next year

    Oil change...wtf!!!

Yes, was just making a point, sorry!! They tried to substantiate the fee by "checking" things, but at £99 per hour labour that's bonkers. I'm really keen to DIY, but until I have the place to do it I'm gonna have to shell out in the meantime!

    Oil change...wtf!!!

I could do lots of things, but have better things to do right now. I have nowhere to do this besides on a public road so not keen. Don't wanna sound like I'm a dick, but will be my luck I cock up the thread on the sump and I don't want to do rhat

    Oil change...wtf!!!

All I want is the oil changed and a general look around. I have f£&@ all patience or the equipment to do what I want. If the oil plug wasn't so f£@@ing tight I would do it as explained in my first post, I would. So spare me the posh tart comment dick wad

    Oil change...wtf!!!

So, phoned Guy Salmon, they quoted £750!!!! Claimed it needs a 12 yr service. It had a major service by the prior owner in May last year so not with it. The oil cost along was more than the parts and oil I bought!!!! So bugger that, phoned Kwik fit- £99 bucks. Thanks for nothing!!'

    Oil change...wtf!!!

Well unless I can get the car on ramps to get the leverage I need, I'm gonna have to shell out.

    Oil change...wtf!!!

I don't have that patience or the space under the car for that matter!!

    Oil change...wtf!!!

Yes, TD5 it is. I might have no choice but to take it to a garage in that case. Have no need or time to buy additional equipmenr

    Oil change...wtf!!!

So, I was looking forward to tinkering and change the oil today. Bought all the parts through Paddock, got the oil, raised the car on blocks, got under, and...whoever changed the oil last tightened the nut so hard it was impossible to budge!!! Soooo annoyed as now I gotta pay someone to do it...

    Car "Sits Down" occasionally

Similar issue, but how easy us it to really do? Do you need to take off the wheels to do it? I ask as I can only park my car on the road, to big to fit down the drive!!

    Just noticed!!

You referring to the alpine windows? I've got a small leak, sunroofs and frames all taped up, so really not sure where the water is coming from

    Discovery 2 - 48 hour disaster

Cars that work are BORING!!! Us boys need a hobby and stuff to fix, that's why I bought mine!!! Had a few niggles, but that's expected. I had more issues with my 2002 Golf!!!

    td5 owners

Had my 52 reg td5 manual 6 months. No issues so far. Get around 600m on full tank, so not that bad. Will need to keep your speed to around 60mph to achieve this. Re the airbags, they seem fine, but do notice they deflate if I sit in the back when parked and the engine off, but inflate...

Light bulb change, but screws knackered

Hi. Need to change my dipped light bulb, but one of the grill screws and head light screw won't come out. I've tried pliers but they won't pull up. Any ideas how to get them out?

TD5 biodiesel update and MOT results

What sort of mpg are you achieving? And torque? How much weaker/stringer is it vs conventional diesel?

    BennehBoy's D2 adventure

Not sure I agree re tyre size and mpg. Where I worked out the mpg it's just slightly over the suggested combined average. Bearing in mind I did 500miles of the 586 on the motorway. Also, if they work out the miles and therefore also speed on stock tyres, what the heck would they use...
