What have you done to your Freelander today

I am personally a pairs person, if one thing is broken and it has the same thing on the other side, just do both. Anything that comes in pairs or more, just do them all and if you can't do a pair, You'll find its easier to do the second one when the first one is fresh in your mind 😂

Feels like handbrake is on! FL1 1998 1.8

VCU is a good first check. Although a cheaper check though harder check, I would prefer to do is the auto-adjuster on the drums at the back. the spring that holds them in the right place and allows them to work without adjusting to the max each time stretches and causing the shoes to rub on the...

    Unable to bleed brakes

Thank you, I plan once the master is rebuilt to fully bleed them again with a pressure bleeder on the master instead of the 2 people method. With no ABS there really shouldn't be any issues! I should imagine it is advised/required I bench bleed the master once rebuilt? Thanks :D had it done...

    Unable to bleed brakes

Thank you. Have since removed the master from the car and "un-built" it 😅 Following removal it looks like the seal for the fill under the actual container was very cracked leaking and just falling to bits, some other seals were good and others were also cracking / cracked. Ordered a new...

    Drinking Coolant / Head Gasket

Well I for once have good news, means I'm a bit of a moron, but that isn't new information. I was removing the inlet manifold today when I noticed a stud was without a nut.... I asked if someone had taken it off to a resounding... no... That's right I have 6/7 nuts holding on the inlet...

    Unable to bleed brakes

Hey all! again! I know I have quite a few posts, I just want to keep all issues separate for tracking, I will be sure to update all posts when and if they are solved. I want to start with I know how to bleed brakes and I have done on this car multiple times (replacing brake lines) However I...

    Drinking Coolant / Head Gasket

Thank you both, really helpful! that means I am to replace the gasket and O2 Sensor coming soon, I will be sure to update here on the news, I should imagine then to replace the gasket the coolant needs to come out?

    Drinking Coolant / Head Gasket

You'll have to forgive my innocence and stupidity, how does the inlet let coolant in? Does a coolant jacket / coolant galley run past/ through the inlet manifold? But even then, in my brain it would enter the combustion chamber and steam clean the pistons? Maybe it's best i take the manifold off...

    Drinking Coolant / Head Gasket

That's looking down at the piston through the spark plug hole, that is the piston itself. Inlet manifold can let water in? as in just water like rain and puddles or coolant? I replaced the gasket when replacing the engine so it should be okay but maybe it got caught somewhere?

    Drinking Coolant / Head Gasket

Excuse my incompetence... Shiny Fire Ring? I didn't think any of the HG sat over the piston/cylinder I take it you mean the Ring that sits on the edge of the HG:

    Drinking Coolant / Head Gasket

Hey! As per usual I am having issues, at this point I work on this car for mechanical experience and not for the economic value 😂 Though recently the engine has been drinking coolant so I think it's going to need a HG so I ran a compression test... 175psi on all cylinders, It could be that my...

    Older F1 EML? (SOLVED)

With no MOT i can't bring it down unfortunately, though I appreciate the offer, tried to bleed the brakes today but they won't? No air is coming out but the pedal goes to the floor and there are no leaks so super confused on that point but that's another story haha! As for the emissions I'm...

    Older F1 EML? (SOLVED)

Guess once the MOT is done I will get looking into why that doesn't work, much like all other cars I've owned it should show when I turn the key to the accessory position right?

    Older F1 EML? (SOLVED)

How interesting... Mine is a 50th anniversary 1.8k so I should imagine then it does have an EML, the car has a slight misfire, I should imagine that would show the EML? I don't have a P-Scan yet :(

    Older F1 EML? (SOLVED)

Hey all! Thought I would ask for everyone's opinions as recently my MOT place was super confused as they think my EML has been blanked? Now... I thought that because this car F1 1.8 2000 is technically before the OBD-2 Requirement it does not have an EML hence it never showed up, I've seen...

Freelander 1 All bolts etc Metric?

Maybe Landrover thought let's switch it up for LHD models and use imperial, they've not really been known for thinking intelligently 😂

Freelander 1 All bolts etc Metric?

Personally I used all metric on my 1.8 engine swap, but even then most imperial have a slight crossover in sizes so to me it realy doesn't matter just use the right size 🤷‍♂️
