    Dumped autobox oil

This is what I'm hoping! The trail was only about 100-200 ft long as you could see it in the wet road. Fingers crossed

    Dumped autobox oil

Hi guys, My dad was driving the p38 at about 50 when a damaged cooler pipe decided to spew all the ATF all over the road. He tell me it lost drive and he pulled over swiftly. There was a puddle under the car when it stopped so not totally empty. Had it recovered home safely. So I ordered...

EAS Saga finally over. One month of humbling education.

These things happen and it can be very frustrating whilst broken but it's rewarding when you finally fix it :) well done

    Freelander td4 clutch stuck on!!

Slave is in the gearbox so if that's gone it's going to cost you at least 200+ just in labour. Good news is the master can be replaced easily and the system you can bleed. I would think that bleeding is the first port of call. If you need to check the master you can disconnect it from the...

    bad cv joint?

You could be ok, I have seen loads of those inner joints where the boot just gets loose because the clip is crap. Can often just be refilled and re clipped with no major worries. If there is no excess movement or wobble then I would refill and re clip first. FYI I Got a new inner boot from...

    Floppy gears

It's nylon and it wears were it touches the metal part of the selector in a half moon shape eventually giving a sloppy stick! The roll pin is a joke! I had a tough time removing it with the gear box out and on the bench- in the end replaced it with a nut and bolt. It knocks out from the...

Yet another TD4 that dosent like starting

From my own experience and from reading this forum it seems that a high percentage of non/poor starting TD4s are down to injectors. I have only ever replaced the one injector causing the problem and that's always been fine. I'm a cheap skate and have used used injectors from rover 75, FL and...

    Clutch change disaster!

Interesting idea that, I am planning to give it one more bleed today or early in the week and will use that idea. Can't believe what a ball ache this has been, the clutch change is bad enough on it own with out this faff! Cheers

    New tyres and ird

I think you can get away with 225 but what ever you do make sure that you have all 4 the same size. If you search you should find a few members that went bigger tyres on 16 wheels :)

    Clutch change disaster!

Thanks mate, it's very frustrating to say the least! I'm away with work for a few days now but I really hope I can sort it when I'm back. As I said I got it just about drivable earlier yesterday so I know everything works, at least. Will look to get some sort of vacuum bleed kit and report...

    Clutch change disaster!

Well put the new master cylinder on today and it was better. Was able to drive it off my drive to a slightly better position on the back lane. Which proves it's a hydraulic issue! Decided it just needed to have one last bleed but sadly no luck, got to be air stuck in slave some where!!!! Peddle...

    Coolant system queries

Bleed from which ever low point you like, remove a hose is normally what I do. Replace radiator (easy) replace thermostat (difficult, check forum for guidance) put pipes back on and fill, run till warm then top up. Finally crack open bleed screw (middle back of engine bay in the pipes that go...

    td4 engine mounts

The only bushes I think you can replace are the ones in the right hand upper and lower mount. Even then you can only buy Polly. You can buy them whole from various websites but cost a fair bit. Normally the lower right hand side (rear mount) if the one that give issues

    Clutch change disaster!

Thanks for the reply mate. I did check I could turn the brake disks (wheels) and ird when it was in the air and all seemed ok, of course the engine was off at the time, not right? I think part of the issue could have come as I left the master disconnected over night? I tried again to bleed and...
