    First offroad attempt

Errr I think your road tyres may not have helped you with off road traction.... A properly driven and prepared freelander is very good off road. All I have is good AT tyres and good VCU with working traction control and have yet to get stuck. Ok clearance is not as good as my RR but that...

    what a waste

Or subframe? Can't believe anyone would recover a car like that! May have well just left it there ! I know the water was deep but...

    vcu removel

I also have never had an issue that a tap of a hammer doesn't fix. You could always try putting the bolts back in loosely and drive back and forward. I'm guessing the steel cover play may have stuck to the flange so be ready with some new grease if this comes off

    Major clutch problems.

I fitted both cylinders and it still caused me no end of issues, last thing you want after a marathon clutch change session! I would agree and advise people steers clear of the b&b cylinder. Try the pump up bleed method I told you about and you will be amazed how quick it starts to come back...

    Major clutch problems.

Td4? I had the same issue with both new cylinders. Only way I got the car drivable was to use this method Have new fluid and a small syringe Have a second person pump the peddle 10 times then hold. Release as the pressure into a 1 way bleed kit. Pull peddle back up Check fluids level and...

New Defender 110 XS called Larry!

I agree that it's largely down to the tread pattern and tyre but if you are really serious then a full winter AT tyre will be the best. It never ceases to amaze me how well winter tyres do in the alpine winters. Winter spec tyres and chains and I'm sure you will be fine. Last ski trip I just...

New Defender 110 XS called Larry!

What does it say on the side of the tyre and what the patten look like? Normally M+S rating and blocky slotted pattern should do the trick. Looks lovely btw, as does the van.

    Sluggish Freelander That Won't Accelerate

Likely the turbo solenoid/valve? Also have to changed the air filter and turbo filter as they can make a huge difference

What have you done to your Freelander today

Window repair kit for the passenger front door, what a chew but easy enough. Works well. That said next one will just get a full mech #lazy

What have you done to your Freelander today

    Freelander TD4 Sport Premium

Haven driven a sport and my ES back to back for a few weeks a while back the sport is lower and the shocks/ springs stiffer. The sport had a very good ability to stay level when lashing round a corner and felt even more car like. That said I like the hight of the ES and we didn't keep the...

New freelander owner with a vcu question

Just to throw in my experience over 3 different freelanders. One I have now I just took the VCU off at just shy of 170k! It's always had good tyres and been used on the motorway a lost. The l series I had I changed it at 120k as it started to hop in multi story car parks round the corners. And...

    Brake modulator ANR2239 vs ANR2238

I'm sure that there is some info on fitting the 2239 modulator to gain rear TC on another popular RR forum.

Recommendations for a new TD4 back box

    Suspension???

You may aswel replace the drop links at the same time :). You will likely kill them getting them off anyway

    Suspension???

I managed to get new ones from LR, think Delphi? You can really feel the difference front to back now so I will change the back shortly. Will likely just get OE standard as they last well. If I had the money and used the car more than the missus I would have fitted the 2 inch plus Monroe kit :)

    Suspension???

At 166k the rears on mine have gone super soft and will be replaced shortly. I did the fronts at 150 as one lost all it's absorbing ability on day after hitting a pot hole. 150k on original is not bad if you ask me :)

    Eurocarparts

They offer levels of most parts e.g a less expensive and a more expensive. Normally goin for the more expansive works out best but in recent years almost all parts I have had from them have been good. Just make sure they give you the right part! I use them a lot for VW parts.

Oil leak on front of propshaft

That oils started out as grease, I re did mine about 20k ago and then recently when taking it off it was an oil like consistency again. The clip will no cause an issue if you ask me. I don't think they are all that balanced in the first place and have never observer re fitting in the same...
