    BECM Motorola MCU Type/Maskset

Started with the GST 68K Assembler toolkit on the Sinclair QL (still got it to this very day -and it's still working) - ended up writing code for automotive ECUs for a large US car manufacturer - most if which was 68K Motorola.

To be fair you'd render the theft part of your insurance invalid - the 3rd party bit covers you - not the car and cannot be invalidated whatever smallprint the insurance company writes on the document.

    BECM Motorola MCU Type/Maskset

I used to write a lot of Motorola 68K assembler - happy days!

    autobox info required..James??

Well, tried sport, the change ups are slightly harsher (but by no means harsh) and I detected a slightly flare after the 1st to 2nd change which doesn't happen in normal mode. Perhaps my transmission is a bit tired?

Keyless Cars Targeted by Theives - Specifaclly Range Rovers

You can thank the EU for this - EU regs concerning fair competition force all manufacturers who sell cars in the EU to publish key security information to third parties to insure "fair competition" - of course this information soon falls into the hands of thieves and the rest is history. One set...

    autobox info required..James??

I've never used sport mode - the box is responsive enough without it - plus you don't need to hang onto revs with a 4.6 litre V8! I'll give sport mode a try next time I'm out and report back.

    P38 abs

An old thread I know but surely a Thor has the later modulator which doesn't suffer this failure.

    Low range

    Using it will loosen it.

    19" a/t tyres....any suggestions?

Indeed there a distinct lack of choice of 19" AT tyres compared to 16" and 18"ers where there are so many excellent ATs in all price ranges.

    Late model front diff pins?

Fromt what I've read 4.6 Thors were supposed to have got 4 pin front diffs (well, ALL Thors were) but the reality is the 4.0s got the leftover 2 pin front diffs.

P38 dse very slow in first and reverse

If you've got diagnostics check that the car is actually configured as a diesel! Another member on here had similar symptoms and it turned out his car thought it was a petrol - how it actually ran I have no idea. I changed the BECM settings over to diesel and did a resysnc. When it thought it...

    Snorkel

About as much use as tits on a Mars bar - P38s and water do not mix. Brilliant off road cars but they don't do wet.

    Reduce body roll

+1 It appears you bought the wrong car.

    autobox characteristics..info needed please!

Zen - we're both north London - you're welcome to take my car for a spin (same box) to see what "normal" is.

Need to move a non runner

Even worse. The p38 has power brakes not just servo assistance. Fully charge the battery and leave the ignition on if being rope towed or you won't stop.

    Should do for my penance!

    Changing coil packs

I tried and failed miserably to do mine without stripping the upper manifold (large hands) - ended up doing it the "book" way in the end - didn't take long to be honest - quite a straightforward job. I used Britpart coil packs - bought individually £20 each - but if you buy the pair prefitted to...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Had a near miss (breakdown wise!) Picked the brat up from nursery (yeah I know grave dodger dad!) and when I turned the ignition - nothing. No power to instruments etc - when I popped the bonnet I found the positive clamp was loose - I'm, a) lucky the car unlocked as I superlocked it due to have...
