Being asked for buy it now

Which is why I'd always say let the auction run. Try and make sure it finishes at a convenient time for people to bid like sunday evening or similar and just sit back and wait.

Being asked for buy it now

The reason people ask for a buy it now is that they are hoping they will get it cheaper than it will end up if left to run. They are hoping that you don't know the value of what you're selling and that you'll give them a low price out of ignorance. Absolutely guarantee that if you give them the...

    Steering wheel removal

Slacken the nut, sit in the seat and pull the wheel towards you while your missus gives the shaft a gentle tap with a hammer. Though to be honest mine have always come off easily.

    Help! Need differential weight asap

No idea but a defender/disco one is about 35kg. Have you considered weighing it?

Stripping the swivel from the back

I don't understand why you want to make it difficult for yourself. Removing the hub and stub axle is very easy and won't take long. Removing the whole lot from the axle in one lump will be awkward and heavy.

    Ignition problem after changing gearbox

Connect a jump lead from the neg on your battery to a good earth point on the chassis. If it starts then the earth is definitely your problem.

Sounds very much like your earth is no good.

    Defender front bumper

Cor blimey this is a nice old thread. I would imagine that if you made your front bumper too strong it would only take a slight knock to bend your chassis. As it is the bumper gives way and saves you an awful lot of stress and money.

Not as much power as I expected...

That engine was sluggish when it was new and yours is now nearly 30 years old. I think you're expecting too much.

    200tdi vs 300tdi ????

Why do people say the r380 is better than the lt77? Having had both I can't say I've noticed any difference. Both the 300s I've owned have blown their head gaskets whereas none of the five various 200s in discos and fenders have ever suffered head gasket failure. I also know several other 300...

If you move it to the right you'll keep snapping the keys with your knee when you get in and out.

    Series 3 Fools rush in...19J

In my 110 the 19j was underpowered and stressed but the very same engine in the lower geared 109 was fantastic. Slightly lighter vehicle and lower gearing made all the difference.

Realistic value of a 121k non running 3.9 efi discovery engine please?

Probably not a lot. The last one in similar condition I tried to sell I ended up giving it away.

    dumb question

A purpose made propshaft bolt socket is one of the best things I ever bought.

    Series 3 Fools rush in...19J

I did this conversion in a 109 I had a few years ago. I had the engine lying around and the sherpa lump that was in it had died so it was an easy decision. I used the original 109 rad and didn't fit an oil cooler. It absolutely tranformed the 109 I would do it again today. I knocked up a side...

    Which Series Landy for towing

IIRC a series landy is only rated to tow 2000kg. Having towed a bit with my old 109 I remember the trailer brakes doing more of the stopping than the Landy ones.
