I’d imagine a new fuel tank would save you a world of pain

    Injector Pump leaking Diesel

Yes sorry as tottot said, it’s the throttle shaft that’s leaking. I haven’t yet bought the kit however I’m not quite sure it’s the right one for my pump anyway as the gasket is different to the one shown in the full kit. What I’ll probably end up doing is just buying the full kit to make sure...

    Injector Pump leaking Diesel

Well to update everybody, it’s definitely a 2.5na engine with corresponding injector pump (fuel solenoid and timing belt cover probably should’ve been a clue for me ) Am I correct in thinking these are CAV DPS pumps and I need this kit...

    Injector Pump leaking Diesel

Looks like I'm going to have to look for an engine number when I'm back, thank you all for the help! I seem to recall a thread on here about converting the 2.5na to a timing chain like the 2.25 but perhaps i've made that up as I can't find it

    Injector Pump leaking Diesel

this is not news I was hoping to hear! seems the old girl is more of a bitsa than thought. I'm in Spain for another 2 months so it'll be a while before i can confirm properly, but for now this is all the footage/images of the engine bay I have

    Injector Pump leaking Diesel

Sorry to revive this thread folks, I’ve been doing a little more research on this topic and looking over many other threads it seems that most engines have the pump mounted vertically. On my engine however, the pump is mounted horizontally (I.e throttle shaft pointing up). I’ve also noticed that...

    Injector Pump leaking Diesel

Thank you! One last thing, I'm going to need to purchase a spanner set for this (everything else I’ve managed to do with my socket set) I’m assuming I need imperial sizes?

    Injector Pump leaking Diesel

Awesome thanks all! The reason I didn’t want to remove the injector pump was because the timing was so good (virtually no smoke bar a bit of white smoke when it cold starts). Watching some videos I’m sure it could be done in situ on an open sided tractor engine but definitely not on the landy...

    Injector Pump leaking Diesel

I see, so the pump isn’t Land Rover specific then? Thanks

    Injector Pump leaking Diesel

Hello all, I’ve been using my 2.25l 2.5n/a diesel landy for a good half a year now and recently have noticed a small leak of diesel dripping from the top of the injector pump, possibly from where the throttle linkage enters. (It seems this has been going on the whole time since the previous...

Land rover series 3 clutch/gearbox issue, I just can't get it in gear

Happened to me too on my second or third drive after I had pulled away, coasted to the side of the road and took a good 2 or 3 minutes of panic to realise what happened :D

    Free wheeling hubs stuck

Thanks for this! I realised that with both front wheels on the ground in 2wd, the front propshaft should spin by hand when they’re free and shouldn’t spin when they’re locked (had a bit of a panic for a second when I only locked one and it still spun forgetting how a differential works) I...

    Free wheeling hubs stuck

So it seems it wasn’t completely stuck thankfully, I’ve oiled it up with some WD40 and hopefully it’ll become looser with more use, is there a way to test that they’re functioning? Wouldn’t want to get stuck down a lane thinking they’re working :D

Thanks, I’ll give this a try!

    Free wheeling hubs stuck

Hello all! I have recently become the owner of a 1961 Series 2 Land Rover. (Well, that’s what the V5 says anyway :D . everything else points to series 3 but that’s another story) It is currently fitted with free wheeling hubs however the front right switch is refusing to move. Is it a case of...

Rear right body panel replacement (and buying queries)

Yeah my thoughts exactly, that and the MOT history looking really weird does not inspire confidence. If I were more experienced I would potentially take it on as a project however considering it would be my first landy then I’m not looking to get too deep into things.

Rear right body panel replacement (and buying queries)

I agree, not a fan of chequer plate personally This was another area of concern actually, on the same side as the crumpled panel, the door sill seems to sit slightly weirdly

Thank you! I’ll keep that in mind haha, not got my heart set on it so will make sure to thorough

Rear right body panel replacement (and buying queries)

Had a feeling that might be the case. If I were to go and look at this what else should I watch out for other than taking a hammer to the chassis. It’s a 1990 110 (not defender) with 12 seats. From the pictures it looks like the rear cross member has been replaced, how do I know this has been...
