not too sure on the legal side of things but the idea your proposing would be very different and interesting good luck with it all :)

if your so worried about ruining your current engine, if youve got the cash, why not do what i do and just buy a project engine thats cheap and practice on that, thats what i'm doing and you can take all the time in the world as youll still have a running landy :)

i personally wouldn't bother going down the whole disc brake route, unless i had higher ratio diffs, and bigger and more powerful engine, other than that, drum brakes work how they should on the standard 2.25 engine, plus no worry with tax exemtion ect.

thanks for all your input guys :) it may have seemed like it was a project for my actual college, i was just stating that i go to college studying motor vehicle mechanics, so i have basic knoledge but what i want to do is purely something for me to do to practice my engine rebuilding skills...

yeah, its purely only for practice, as when i get my series thats when i'll be spending serious money on parts of the engine i don't plan to put the engine in a car to run on the road, i'd just like a 'project' if you like to practice my rebuilding skills, and my dads had quite a few series...

ah thanks for that :) i also go to 6th form and i'll be going to college next year for further study, im looking at getting a 1965 series 2a, and the gearbox, well, ill just learn to double clutch, cant be that hard, and its just another skill i can add to my driving i guess.

thanks for all your help i prefer the look of the old 2a's inside and out,and im more leaning to one of them but i seem to remember my dad talking about double clutching, do you need to do it on up****s and downshifts all the time or what? the last thing i want is a broken gearbox in the middle...

my dad owned two series models, both 2a he had one with a hard top and one with a soft top in my opinion the soft top looks better and its probably easier to take off for a summer car?
