ive seen a couple of zenith rebuild kits go on ebay lately, although the weber rebuild kit does seem more popular than the zenith, no reason why you shouldn't be able to pick up a decent rebuild kit for under £20

the number plate can be sold seperately, the price range of the actual car can vary a fair amount but the actual price of the old girl all depends on how original it is and what the conditions like best place to find the value of the number plate would be a specific website maybe?

i agree, the rediculous price we have to pay is mental, i know very few 18 year olds who have a good paying job, and yet out of the money we do get it has to go to mostly insurance but 1.2k is amazing compared to most of my friends, my mate just got his quote through, 6k for a 1999 corsa!!

i'm 18 no years no claims and when i did a quote with adrian flux it was 1.2k make sure you ring them, online i think it turned out £3k something

is it in the owners manual or haynes? from just holding my dads old one it looked fairly simple and i was quite young then, just take lots of photos, and maybe get an exploded diagram of one, that should give you a good clue on where everything goes

yeah i'd say about £1500 real noob question, kind of not related though is it me or are lwb models considerably cheaper than swb (eg same condtion ect) because i'm currently on the hunt for a series 2a and it always seems that the 109's are always cheaper than swb

haha, i think one of each series before i'm 25 is a little exessive! hopefully i'll have a lovely restored 2a by then for mine to keep for years :) and photos are sure to come, just need to get everything haha, should be getting it all within 2 weeks and will keep this thread updated with...

ahh :) i do know they can go for tonnes more than 2k, but it was getting late, and i really couldnt be bothered to type even more haha

buy the best one your budget will allow keep in mind £500- a project on bricks £1000- a rolling deathtrap £1500- bulkhead and chassis probably okay, worn engine ect £2000- a tidy motor with good chassis and bulkhead- maybe 200tdi conversion and t+t £2000+ one thats been recently restored...

no reason why it shouldn't :) old landies were built to last, many that you see today that are complete rust buckets is because theve been left, bodged, and worked to near breaking point, but in the right hands, and a nice restoration, a series in affect can last forever with odd bits replacing...

haha fairdos, never knew about your rebuild :) had a quick flick through, and the amount of rust and bodging found is unbeleivable! its all worth it and in the end youll hve a nice motor that will last years!

at 75 in an old series IS possible, but youd need a tailwind, a downhill, and a **** load of balls, in my dads old 2a anything above 55 sounded like the engine would explode- series wern't built for speed or good mpg. i'm calling b/s about 32 mpg at 75

2.25 petrols are slightly quieter than the diesel, and go faster but worse mpg (pretty obvious really) both engines are bomproof but lack in power compared to the 200/300 tdi also spares are readily available for the engine so getting spares is easy need anything more pm me :)
