Minor collision. Should l claim on his insurance?

Make a claim directly to other party's insurance company. Even if he disputes it, there will be a black mark on his insurance file, particularly if he fails to inform his insurer about the incident.

Must be the camera angle then, but in a few of the pics they protrude a fair bit outside the arches.

Do you put on standard tyres/wheels for MOT?

Poor low end power after remap defender TD5??

You don't need a TD5 cat for the MOT. Mine has passed the last 3 MOT's with no cat and no mention by the tester. Compression ignition engines are not subject to a full emissions test, so the presence or absence of a cat is not checked. On the TD5 at least, it is a particle filter not a full cat.

    Timing chain or belt?

Is the TD5 the only recent LR diesel engine that uses a timing chain? I know the 300tdi has a belt, what about the 200tdi and the various Ford puma engines?

    Crash!!

Insurance co's have great difficulty valuing defenders as the concept of a vehicle that doesn't depreciate every year, is alien to them.

    Td5 conking out

So it's possible then to have 80V inside the ECU? What about the 8 amps? 640W sounds like a huge amount of power.

    Td5 conking out

No way to get 80V in a 12v DC system. You would need an inverter and step up transformer. I would have a go at fixing that ECU, depends on how extensive the track damage is and knowing the values of the cooked resistors. I would be worried that whatever the fault that caused it, would still...

Do I need a new head unit?

No, but you might need a new head. Double posting for your first post and not introducing yourself - you will be having visits from the forum etiquette police and no answers to your question(s). Do yourself a favour and get over to the Introduce Yourself section.

    TD5 or 300tdi 90?

This isn't a poll, but TD5 sounds much nicer with the asynchronous throb from its 5 cylinders.

Clunk/rattle on gear changing, is likely to be the dual mass flywheel giving up.

    Need advice! Help :)

Think it looks OK. The rear cross member seems sound and that is usually the first part of the chassis to go. From what can be seen of the bulkhead, there are no apparent problems. Door panel gaps look excellent. It would definitely fetch more money in US.

    Advice needed

The front ones on my 2005 90 were fixed with rivnuts. You can easily drill or grind the flanges off the rivnuts and push them out.

    Td5

Just seems so out of character for a government to do this. So worst off are SW owners with vehicles registered between 2006 - 2011, that are paying £490 - ouch.

    Td5

I have just done a search on this site: https://www.gov.uk/calculate-vehicle-tax-rates for an August 2011 Defender 90 station wagon and it shows the following: Vehicle LAND ROVER Defender Station Wagon 2.4 90 2010 Model Year, M6 12 month cost £490.00 6 month cost £269.50 Date of...

    Td5

There must be some fraud going on then, if you go to the government site I posted earlier, where you can search for a car model rather than a reg.no., then all SW's from 2006 onwards are taxed at £490. Any SW only paying £220, must have originally been a commercial and converted, without...
