    Managed to fit left head today, complete with new litters well oiled and in place was going to do right but had other jobs pending so ran out of time, yes the dust plugs are McDonald's sauce tubs, shame you have to cover so much of this engine up as is fantastic looking engine.

    Yes mate is called calculated crush, all bearings fit in this manner, bearing of multiple layers called a sputter bearing new word I learned the other day Lol when the bearing gets enough grip on the crank they will spin regardless of notch

    Thanks mate, rebuild cost mounting though about £1500, rear seal came today fitted and shrinking as we speak, breather box first tab under seal housing and tube doesn't fit after head is on, found a piece of thick wall tubing machined at one end did the job fitting oil pump seal elring seal...

    No don't take belt off any of the pulleys is what is called an interference engine would be a disaster, would reccomend as lynall said remove cam cover look at cam pulleys, looking deeper with this engine is quite involved cam cover and rocker covers are about as much as you can do without...

    Not sure its crank snapped but as suggested above do not run it, needs investigating, drop the oil have a look for bits, as suggested check cam pulley

    Yes made by ford for Landrover, jaguar, citroen, Peugeot apparently so I heard french had input in design wanted it more compact to fit transversely but you hear these things but wouldn't suprise me, Discovery 4 air breather box pictured many more parts like this

    Cheapest option is to buy a running driving s type or early xf and do the switch yourself, I'm building one myself and can confirm its expensive, doesn't always scrap the block but there's more than a good chance, crankshaft too thin under 7mm in some areas good luck all the best
