Thx for the replies........it has always been serviced by Land Rover according to the schedules so I assume the correct oil etc. It has not been used much recently so we took it for a good run......the tapping noise has now stopped.

What's best...... Buy new injectors. Send old ones for recon. Buy a test pump from ebay and recon yourself and have the pump for future testing.

I am not sure if my turbo is good or bad....so have sent it away to get checked However............... When removing it I found diesel fuel in the boost actuator, which presumably came from the injection pump. Is there a seal or something that can be replaced. Also......... I want to check...

I struggled to bleed mine. Bought a hand vacuum pump and used it to suck the fuel from the tank to the outlet of the filter....no problem since.

More Progress. Engine is now running......it started very easily once I had replaced the lift pump. The down side is that the secondhand, "its a good one mate" turbo leaks oil into the compressor side. I have just ordered a repair kit. Will it never end?
