Disco 2 door lock does not work

Does it still "clunk" when you activate central locking? Might just be the lever that goes from the actuator mechanism to the actual lock that has come loose.

    Disco 2 MOT speak

Could mean the rods/bushes in the control arms. Replacing a whole control arm is quite easy but expensive. Replacing a bush is difficult without a decent press. Either way the control arm needs to be removed to do it. Could you not have asked the tester to clarify?

Disco 2 Clattery noise under bonnet

Idler pulley bearing? Slacken off the belt and give it a jiggle. Should be no movement at all.

    Disco 2 Accelerator pedal sensors

I'd start with the throttle pedal. It's just a variable resistor. Easy to check if you have access to a spare one to test.

    Flat Bed Disco 2 Project

Been busy doing mainly cosmetic stuff with Project Disco over the last few days as I want it looking as good as possible for the Shetland Classic Car Show (4th & 5th June). It'll be going on a trailer unfortunately as I'm back on shift tomorrow for two weeks and I'll only have a couple of days...

    Flat Bed Disco 2 Project

Just a small update today. The Disco came with chequer plate on the bonnet when I bought it. I removed it during the build as it wasn't lined up properly. So today I lined it up properly, redrilled the rivet holes and painted them both before refitting it. You can see how far out it was by the...

Disco 2 D2 What Tow Bar Bolts?

I put M14 120 bolts in mine. They're a bit long and protrude about 10 - 15mm through the captive threaded tube in the top of the chassis. M14 100 or thereabouts should do the job.

    Flat Bed Disco 2 Project

Been another busy couple of days. Here's the latest progress update: Chequer plate bed floor now riveted down. Battery compartment cover fastened down with stainless steel tapered allen head bolts. Fuel pressure regulator leak fixed. Stripped the area under the windscreen to take out the wiper...

Disco 2 Disco 2 Facelift Headlights

About £150 each for good condition.

Disco 2 Disco 2 Facelift Headlights

The motors are inside the light unit so to do anything with them I'd need to open them up. Given the ridiculous price of 2nd hand units, never mind new, I was hoping to be able to fix them.

Disco 2 Disco 2 Facelift Headlights

Has anyone successfully taken these apart? I've been fiddling for hours with one of mine and I can't see how they come apart, if indeed they do. I want to get at the levelling motors to see if I can fix them. Mine seemingly didn't work on my project Disco but I managed to get them to work for a...

    Flat Bed Disco 2 Project

I've made good progress on the bodywork and problem solving the last few days. Bodywork wise I only need to paint the passenger side door and refit the window trim and mirror, fasten down the bed floor panels and fit the B pillar trims. More paint on order to finish the door. Found a few...

Coolant leak apparently from the casting that the coolant pump/PS pump mounts onto.

I had this problem on my old Defender. The water was leaking from the pump shaft into the cavity between the water pump and the power steering pump.

Coolant leak apparently from the casting that the coolant pump/PS pump mounts onto.

Are you getting drips from the weep hole on the bottom of the casting?

Disco 2 Disco 2 Windscreen Wipers

Maybe the springs in the arms are worn or the spring pivot points are corroded and don't hold the blade to the screen with enough pressure? I have that problem on mine.

    Help needed please

Sounds like the solenoid on the starter motor needs fixing. You can buy a kit to replace the solenoid internals. You need to remove the starter motor to do it.

Anger and frusration got the better of me I'm afraid. I should have waited until I'd calmed down and thought about it properly. Besides, it would have annoyed me having a cracked screen when the rest of it was looking so good.

Once the windscreen gets here I'll try to find someone who can fit it for me. I've done all the hard work removing the old one. I don't want to risk breaking another not installing it properly. It's not something I've ever done before.

    Yes. Removal was brutal.
